Computer Slow Down?

Hey people, I've had my new laptop since around Christmas time and I do remember it loading up in literally less than a minute. But since about 2 months ago, I have noticed it taking a lot longer to load programs and on start-up.

I have defragmented it a couple of times, but it hasn't made a big difference. So I was wondering what options do I have for speeding it up? Are there any programs for free that would 'tidy it up' so to speak?

Aside from that, it still runs games okay so that's the main thing I'm thankful for, still good frame-rates, but everything else runs a lot slower than it used to

What do you people dp to keep your machines running smoothly? Any help would be golden x

Re: Computer Slow Down?

I just wait for mine to get so slow i cant use it and then throw it out the window.

Have a look at whats starting up and try remove any ones that you dont need. I like my computer to start in a "raw" state, so I dont let any new apps add themselves to the startup, i run them when I need them rather then all the time when I might only need them now and again.

I was skeptical of downloading more stuff to try and sort out my computer but it has really helped.

Clearing up space on your hard drive and removing any unneeded programs can help speed things up.

Re: Computer Slow Down?

Laptops will generally slow down and become bust over time, as the same with PC's, but well built/expensive PC's usually last longer.

I usually buy a new laptop every 1-2 years. I would buy a PC, but I just don't have the room to have one.

Re: Computer Slow Down?

CCleaner.

Also, Windows Key+R>msconfig>startup

Untick everything you don't need on startup. (If you don't know what you don't need, list everything on here.)
