Surely in this day and age an employer isn't allowed to specify for only one sex?

If I were you I'd go for the job and if they turn you down based on your gender have then for sexual discrimination

I personally can't think of any situation where, as a game tester, it was necessary being female or male

They probably don't have enough female games testers on their team I reckon. Simple reason. 

Devs need a diverse community to test their games - from differing age groups...and sexes.

lol Foofan....Duke Nukem's gonna have a penchant for chintz curtains and start doing his fair share of the housework next time around. They say they're after a woman's opinion and you can't get that from a man, no matter how much we nag and talk at you hehe

Also their paying less than the minimum wage for the UK only by 10p per hour though for over 21's unless this is an advertisement for under 21's but I was under the impression that age discrimination is also illegal now?

Although it'd be my perfect job its about £10 an hour less than what I require

Doesn't make any difference, you're not allowed to advertise a job for just one gender

You should be chosen for a job on merit and not because you fit a certain demographic
