Find something that you are able to write about, or have the  enthusiasm to research and write about, which is broad enough to form a suitable subject, and is relevant to your assignment.

Not something that you want to write about. And asking other people for ideas probably isn't the best approach.

You could write about how Sony helped transition gaming and the wider industries into new technologies (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, HDDs in console, media center ability).

You could write about the effects of PS3 in scientific research as establishments use the Cell processor to number crunch.

You could also question if the Playstation brand was a good thing for society considering it exposed computer games to ever bigger market audiences and might have dummed down the social skills of a generation.
