Driving lessons

Anyone have any funny stories to tell about their driving lessons? Or are there any instructors around?

I used to have driving lessons when I was 17, but gave up since my parents wouldn't pay for them and I couldn't afford to pay for them with my low wage job.

After having an incident with a bus driver today, I've decided I'm sick of taking the buses and need to get my own car, and I'm gonna start up lessons again.

Don't have any interesting stories, except my second driving instructor shouting at me when he thought I was gonna go into a white van parked on the right side of the road when I turned a left corner, and he was shouting at me till he was blue in the face xD

I don't know why he was so worried, I wasn't anywhere near the van and they all have secondary pedals anyway! D:

Re: Driving lessons

I never failed xD I stopped doing lessons with my 3rd instructor because I couldn't afford it. I've never gone for my test lol.

Might help to stick with one instructor...?

Re: Driving lessons

How can you afford lessons now when you don't work and couldn't when you did?

My Grandad taught me how to drive, he touched my thigh once.

Re: Driving lessons

Not really an interesting story but what used to annoy me was getting overtaken by everyone when I was learning to drive. I was on the speed limit but cars were still going past me. Another annoying part was nobody ever giving way to you.

Now that I've passed, whenever I see a learner driver, I try to give them as much patience as I can and also give way to them to make the driving experience easier for them.

Re: Driving lessons

I passed my test on the morning of the first day of the 'new test'.

Had to deal with an ambulance coming up behind me on a narrow street as well.

I'm a real good driver me. Passed first time, I have had loads of "points" awarded to me, and just the other day someone thought highly enough of my driving to leave a little note on the windshield saying "Parking Fine".

I'm on DLA and ESA. I get just short of £800 a month roughly.

That still happens to me. People like to speed. That's why, when on a thin road where they can't overtake me, I like to slow down to around 25MPH; it's so funny when I see their faces in the mirror XD

Back on topic, when my cousin had her first lesson and was learning in her own car, the Driving instructor told her to pull over, give him the key and he walked back to her house and gave my Aunty and Uncle the key

Re: Driving lessons

By the way, my first instructor was called New Driver or something, and the woman was basically scheming me, and I couldn't have another appointment for another 2 months, so that was pointless.

Second instructor was the above as mentioned, having a pleb shouting at me isn't exactly what you want in a lesson, he was just waaaaay on edge.

Third I had no problems with. I just couldn't afford to do them anymore on a £250 a month wage pack xD
