Pretty much not true, I have been watching the past few days cause I dont really get this whole "private joke" thing. Every person who has brought it up has had one of the regulars reply to them in a friendly way.
Every time an older member has posted someone has quoted them and replied pretty much on topic to them.
I havent seen one person get ignored or left out of a discussion because they were not liked or not a regular.
Sure its less active, and sure you might not get any replies, but thats everyone including me and I understand all the jokes, I made a thread the other day and got 2 replies from one person, it was about hdd media players. Thats pretty much all you can expect these days, cause thats how active the forum is. They can either let a bit of casual off topic banter like they always did, or they can stop it and watch the forum with very few members get less.
GD was invented for people to have casual conversations, your only problem is, its less active so now the casual conversations are too dominent? so reply to threads on topic?
Maybe the older members lurking but not posting are the problem not the current members just being active.
I'm just saying it can be rather intimidating for a new member to post here. Not that it's deliberate by any means but that a clique has formed in a way. The group remains close and it's hard to really get in on there discussion and it just gets boring. I'm not saying that this is done malicously but it's just the way it looks from an outsiders point of view. That's probably the reason it's not as active as it used to be.

yeah just put in your thread starter, "please don't go off topic" or whatever and people won't.
more different names posting now than for quite a while

You see you say that, but people still do.
Even I've asked this in the past and thought "fudge it, if you can't beat them, join them".

Yawn. "This is a local forum for local people" I dont care what any of the regulars say who have been here since day one or whatever. I'm an outsider looking in and to me it is cliquey, and while I agree with you Fen the regular posters are friendly to noobs like me, there are still loads of injokes, mutal ego stroking and all the rest of it that come part and parcel will most internet forums. You also confused me earlier by denying the presence of injokes here and said the three examples of injokes I cited were NOT injokes then named you being ugly as an injoke and something about x2 being an injoke. I'm not trying to flame or troll or whatever, all im saying is It can be quite off putting to new users reading through all this. I cant speak for long time posters who no longer post here or their reasons for not posting all I can do is give my perspect as a noob.

Hey Seraphim.
This post saddened me a lot actually. You really do get some cruel people out there. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother and your illness. I pray you pull through. You don't deserve any snide remarks. You're friends should be supporting you at a time like this, not plotting against you and calling you a liar.
It may be good for you to take some time away for PSN, we all need a break sometimes. Although i do have to say that you should never let bullies win. Hold your head up high and get on with it. This is your virtual reality too. Never give up something you enjoy because other people have an issue with it. I suggest you get rid of these nasty people from you're friends list and carry on playing the games you enjoy. I noticed you mentioned Ps Home. That is something i happen to go on regular and i can honestly say we are not all bad. Why don't you come along to one of our poker nights and see how you get on? You might meet some people you get on really well with.
Only leave if it's what you feel is best for you. Feel free to add me if you want and have a chat. ![]()
All the best sweety

That post was confusing on purpose, I was just pointing out stuff that happened before that the older members would remember and poiting out that to others they might seem as inside jokes, but they were just random jokes at the time.
The me being ugly thing was when I tried to join beautifulpeople.com and posted the results on here, I got rejected. So when someone mentions it, its kind of an injoke, cause they are not really calling me ugly, just laughing at how I do silly things.
No one does x2 anymore.
Basically i think injokes do happen, But the ones you picked were too easy to understand to be considered a real injoke. I think dets, me being ugly, white lexus, etc are better examples but are actually not mentioned too often.
Maybe it is intimidating, but I would disagree with anyone saying its exclusive, cause I honestly dont think it is, and i dont think there are as many injokes today as there have been in the past, and I havent seen anyone excluded for not being in on a joke.
Thats my honest opinion, there isnt as many as people assume, and they dont exclude anyone.

Ok Fen, thanks for clearing some of that up. I still think youre all webbed footed forum cousins with eyes too close together as you all duel with your banjos, but I'll stick around for a bit longer till I either get bored or banned. Slightly more life over here than the home GD boards anyway.

You can't just say goodbye to the PSN, it is a legal requirement that the service is provided to you. The Public Service Network is not something you can just turn your back on... or do you mean SEN?
