How does this work?

Use the Bus Lane, get a fine.

Use the Olympic Lane, get a fine.

What are you suppose to do? Drive on the pavement?

Re: How does this work?

It's obvious, you're supposed to stop where the middle lane ends and wait for the olympics to finish.

The whole thing is a farce isn't it?

Re: How does this work?

Not all the Olympic lanes have a ban on traffic, most do but not all. Also some Bus Lane rules have been changed so either A. You can use this Bus Lane or B. You can use the Olympic Lane. You'd have to check what the rules are along the road, should be well signposted.

What I don't get is the stuff about cyclists all over the place... they've been banned from all Olympics lanes? Odd as the official papers I got through my door which explained every single lane and also listed my street as a back up one mentioned on nearly every page that all Olympics lanes would be open to cyclists.

Re: How does this work?

In London do they have operational hours for bus lanes i.e. rush hour?

I don't know much about London traffic, but is it not possible that the two lanes have operational hours which do not cross over? e.g. Bus lane is 6am-9am and Olympic lane is 1pm onwards?

Yep it'll be something like I guess or as I mentioned above the rules for the bus lane are totally dropped for the duration - to be fair you can hardly expect them to tear up the road and markings and then put the bus lane back in once the games are done. Do hope the signs are obvious and stand out though.

Re: How does this work?

It's all a scam if you ask me.

There are going to be tonnes of drivers getting fined, it's guaranteed.

I don't see why they couldn't just use the bus lane on roads like this for the Olympic vehicles instead of creating a whole new lane.

Re: How does this work?

I think it would be a safer and better place with no markings, traffic lights, speed bumps, right of way whatsoever.

It may seem insane at first but it will basically force people to use common knowledge and sense.  I know not everyone has that but at the moment it seems all these safety measures is making people lazy with their sensibility.
