How much I say? I tell him he's having a laugh its not usually that dear, he then says "sorry didn't know you were a local/regular yadda yadda" and then charges me the correct price.
That's just plain wrong. If I was a tourist in there buying a pint and then saw the next man get the same thing for half what I'd paid I'd be mightily annoyed.
Talk about profiteering!
This disgusts me actually. Really it does. Don't know how they can justify that. I wouldn't have paid him even the £2.80 after realising what they had just tried to do. I would have got up and walked out, and most probably would never have returned.

£5.80? Sounds about right for London xD
That's pretty shameful though - I'd've thought if they were the one reasonably priced pub in the area then word'd spread and they'd make up the difference through increased custom.

Central London maybe but not the outer areas, There is one pub in amongst them all that hasn't put up their prices so I hope they catch all the trade the others lose.
Mind you I found an even dearer one £7.20 a pint! (and an £10 entrance fee although that does get you your first pint free lol)

It's price discrimination , which pretty much every business would love to do.
I believe nightclubs often charge different prices for men and women. In this instance, instead of discriminating based on gender, it is discrimination based on where you live.
People have different views on price discrimination, it sounds immediately like a 'bad thing', but really it isn't too hard to justify. In general it allows the business to get more profits whilst still satisfying customers (though not as much as before).
They also let more women in, more relaxed on what women wear and are less strict with their age and asking for ID.
Something about more women = more moneyz. I wonder why.
