Moving house and no internet

I just realised that because I am moving home the worst thing is not the expensive first month where you pay the first rent, bond, admin fee, buy household stuff, council tax, TV licence and household insurance... it is going to be the wait we will have to endure for a telecomms company to setup the internet line.

To make matters worse, the other half is a fan of final fantasy and I made the mistake of buying her Final Fantasy 13-2 so my PS3 will also have to be shared.

Does anyone here know how long it takes them to get the internet connection up and running?

With all the prep work for it I haven't been on here much, I don't think many people would miss me anyway :smileyvery-happy:

This is why I love Virgin Media and fiber optic, plug the cable in (providing wiring into the house is already present) ring them up and they activate it instantly.

The last time I moved house I was with Sky and they took 3 weeks to get us up and running.

Took me a month once.

However last time my flatmate flirted with one of the staff and it was set up within a week.....

Well there is a Virgin line going in there but I have heard they cap the line aggressively compared to others, is this true? I do a lot of video streaming so can cope without the great speeds on offer, just not the bandwidth being slowed down.

Re: Moving house and no Internet

We have just moved and Virgin had us back online within a week, despite having to use a BT line at the new place.

Re: Moving house and no Internet

I suppose a week isn't too bad, especially as I have work during the days and the evenings will be busy anyway. And with Olympics I can try and manage without internet, I still have 3G though but it isn't the same :smileysad:

Re: Moving house and no Internet

I just moved house, internet was up and running within a few hours.

Only problem is that it's so slow here. :smileysad:
