Re: Norway

I dont know why he did it at a time when europe was admitting multiculturalism does not work.

Seems like a poltical push would have worked better, but time will tell.

I remember that, I also remember most countries replied saying she was right, I agreed with her and still do, so in a sense agree with anders to some degree.

But killing kids and bombing people over it? I dont really understand how it could possibly help his cause.

Re: Norway

The world is full of crazy people, makes you look at things in perspective. It is just to easy to take a human life away. We all need to make the most of things as life is to short and nobody knows what will happen in the future.

This may also make you look at life in a different perspective. :smileysad:

Re: Norway

It seems it's a natural human instinct to hate your neighbours

Why bother.

In Norway the sentencing of a criminal act is split in two, with four different goals.

Punishment

1) Direct responsive Punishment. A maximum 21 years in jail.

2) Jail time as Preventive deterrent. This has been proven to have no effect on people who are able to commit atrocities like this, so it doesn't come into play here.

Protection

3) Protecting the mentally ill from themselves. Mandatory commitment to a mental institution. Probably not relevant here.

4) Protecting the society from the perpetrator. At the time of initial sentencing it should not be more than 15 years, and can not be more than 21 years in addition to ordinary jail time. This can however be renewed ad infinitum every 5 years if deemed necessary.

So it is highly unlikely that this person will ever see the light of day again.

Personally, I think this is an excellent system, which has the interests of the public at heart, not the wishes of a baying mob.
