lol, as far as i remember, it was some deviant art guy drawing a creepy mouse face he seen or something and getting it wrong and using it in a comic.
But it was the "cool face" "problem officer" that made it spread, and for ages it wasnt really known as troll face but problem.jpg, and coolface.jpg and thats how it was used on 4chan for ages then just was obvious people trolling so became trollface.
