Re: PC Support Available Here

Hello

I have a Dell Laptop. My Laptop has been working fine but until now.

It lost connection. I tried turning off the internet for 5 minutes and it didn't work.

I almost think that it could of been a virus.

Please help because my parents aren't gonna be spending over 100$ to get me another computer.

Please use plain text.

One of those has probably given you a virus or installed 3rd party applications.

Re: PC Support Available Here

Help me guys!

Here's the story, I have a wireless router that transmits a decent signal to every room in my house bar one. This router is downstairs, the room is upstairs. I have an old router with which I would like to use it as a wireless access point(bridge?), place it upstairs and boost the signal to the room that doesn't get any.

So I plug the old one in upstairs, plug it in to the telephone socket, plug an ethernet cable into my laptop and access the control panel.

From here I put it into bridge mode, disable the DCHP and the firewall and change the SSID and passcode to the same as the router downstairs. The computer in the room with little signal can find this router but whn trying to connect just stays on "Identifying..."

From research, I gather I need to change the IP address but i''m not sure how or what to as they all talk about putting it into the same subent as the current router.

Any help, sorry if it's confusing. :smileytongue:

What make are the routers? Have you checked out these guides to see if you've missed a step:

Re: PC Support Available Here

DOwnstairs one is a: Huawei Echolife HG520b

I have two spare ones: Netgear DG834G and a Phillips SNB5600/00.

And neither are compatible with DD-WRT.

That first guide did help, given up for the moment though :smileytongue:
