Re: PC Support Available Here

Actually I think this thread is a good idea since we get loads of individuals coming on here with hundreds of random PC related problems. Why not keep it all in 1 thread. Since loads of you are really competent with such matters people should get the answers they need pretty quickly. I think we all consider ourselves fairly knowledgeable about PCs but we all have our ‘grey’ areas. Heck, even I discovered a problem on my PC this morning – every time I open any document with a video file in I get this Tried random things but can’t stop it from occurring! Any thoughts are welcome? Howdy, DEP's a security feature http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Execution_Prevention#Software_protection Heres Microsofts page on it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352 Heres microsofts guide to configuring it :smileyhappy: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/prodtech/windowsxp/depcnfxp.mspx

Re: PC Support Available Here

Would there be a reason for my PC sometimes switching of at random points in time? I'll just be sat at the PC, surfing the Internet, and it restarts. The only idea I have is that it could be my ZoneAlarm resetting after updates, but it does get rather annoying. It could be a software issue but if it happens randomly when using different software its probably not. Its more likely to be a hardware issue, either your PC is overheating and the sensors are shutting it down to protect it from damage or your Power Supply Unit (PSU) is dying. Open it up clean the fans etc. and then see what happens. You can use something like Everest Home Edition (which is free) to see the temps in your PC and post them here and we'll see if there ok, and try something quite stressful on your PC like encoding a video or gaming and see if it crashes more or less or the same :smileyhappy: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html - Everest

Sv: Re: PC Support Available Here

I pwn all you n00bs, I'm still 13. Well, I'm 14 in 13 days, but that's irrelevant! I've built 3 PCs. Currently in the garage, the specs aren't that great compared to the PCs we use now. But a PC is a PC! :smileytongue:

lol. Only joking with the n00b part dudes, good luck with your thread. Though I agree with the guy with an arrancarrar as his avatar, PC building is very easy, as is repair and OS installation (easiest of all).

So you are into bleach too? Nice :smileyhappy:

What are the symptoms you're getting on your computer?

I'm thinking its the flu but I can't be sure, just taking its fan temperature now..
