I was just wondering, am I the only one who thinks platinum game covers (especially the cases) look bad, or at least less good compared to the normal version of a game...

I really dislike them which is the reason I even swapped cases with those cases you automatically get when purchasing a psn card in stores... (as those are exactly the the same as the normal seethrough cases)

I actually thought the same thing. The PS2 ones were alright, I quite liked the silver cases, but yellow boardered paper just looks tacky. Not sure who the designer was for that but he should be shot!

Ever since the PSone, I have always avoided getting platinum cases as they are just so out of place with the rest of the cases, when lined up. PS3's are shockingly bad though, I bought resistance 1 platinum a while ago and hate seeing it on my shelf

They do look tacky, I don't know why they do it. It's as if they want to punish the people that have saved a couple of quid by buying the platinum version.

The best case I have I got with AC:R, and at the time I had just got Skyrim, so I swapped the cases. Skyrim is by far my most attractive looking game. All black including the case.

My guess is that yellow is the most visible colour known (hence the yellow taxis ) to man so they are designed to attract your attention, I guess.

Either way they are horrid. But I only own one and that is inFamous which came free with my Slim.

I remember regretting selling MGS4 once and wanted it back a year later. Boy was it hard to find a non platinum version for a reasonable price. I try to avoid them as much as I can, but they dont bother me now as much as when they first announced them.

The red NA versions look much better.

I have UC1 & 2 platinum, doesn't really bother me. Don't tend to look at the case, as long as the game plays fine!

I think Platinum cases are very tacky and suck. However NA Greatest Hits, and various Japanese The Best versions of the covers are pretty nifty and have been since the PS1 days. Much like the French can't do comedy, SCEE can't do quality budget box art

mmmm, not sure whether I like it more... (the case itself that is, I think it's good that they didn't change the cover pict though) + the quality of those grey platinum covers is pretty poor sometimes...
