They are sought after for their high quality.

I used to have one of these. Gave it away about 10 years ago.

I had one of them, it was my first PS1, think it cost £199.99.

I sold it for next to nothing a few years back at a car boot, the person who bought it must have been an audiophile because the only reason he bought it was because of the red and white audio sockets.

Just had a quick look on the internet and apparently the CD playback from them is of a very high quality so now I wish I had kept it but at the time I didn't know.

The only problem with mine was that you had to place it upside down so cut scenes didn't freeze or skip.

Re: PlayStation SCPH-1002. Audiophile version???

I loved my PS1

But, I didn't love it that much that in the year 2011 I would be playing CD's on it still.

That's...weird.

i think i will get one of the SCPH-1002 ones just to add to my retro console collection, but i think i will hook it upto my Sony DAV-S800 5.1 home cinema system amp. (simply because the stupid thing wont play cd's with out skipping).

i already have one of the big original Playstations. the model number is SCPH-9002.
i also have a mini ps1 packed away somewhere.

My old PSX definitely has those composite connections. Never knew there were models that were any different.
