Sorry to hear that.

i read about this yesterday on the NME website. The cover of 'Roll with It' by Oasis was shot on the beach and had the pier in the background. Some of the early Beatles covers were done there as well, dunno which ones.

bloody loved it, and it owned southends or brightons - we had  a 2 floor go-kart racetrack built on it

Well, it wasn't that good, but it provided us with something to do if we got bored during the day. I'll miss those arcades...

Hopefully they'll make a nice new modern pier  which will provide even more (and hopefully won't be as tacky as the front part of the pier is), and whilst we're on the subject of redevelopment, I wish they'd sort the Tropicana and Burnbeck pier out too...(for those that don't know, we have two piers...well...one now, one old derelict one).

Whoever thought of building stuff on a giant thing on stilts in the sea was stupid. They probably had firetrucks there within minutes but then they must've thought 'umm hey, how do we get our truck to where the fire is?'.
