Alas....the black beast has peacefully sucumbed to YLOD (red blinking light) while of all things browsing the PS Store...I tried a few things (harddrive reset etc), shed a tear , kissed it tenderly and then returned it to its original packaging (which I kept) and to the spare oooom

Thanks 60 for 5 years service, for the fun games, the shared times with peeps and the movie watching (only just watched 2 blu-rays last night)...

Not angry, not gonna rant (like many posts we see) and also not posting to make a statement..posting to say ta to the machine....

right where's the visa :)

Not the best timing and was kinda hoping it would make it to the next gen announcements at least (which I feel are around the corner)...but it is what it is.....

*Raises a glass*

*Salutes*

*moves on with life*

:)

yeah i feel for ya mate, i lost my 40gig just recently. it hurts, i will still send her off to get repaired so i can retrieve my data, but after that she will be stored away.
i got myself a shiny new slim, although initially i didnt like the shape, its growing on me and the smaller size is actually handy. oh plus its silver : D

Cheers KIng...I shall probably do the same, buy a slim and then (when finances allow) get a repair on the launch model....kinda sad, but not ***** off. I've done a lot of gaming on it and tbh if you work it out 5 years use compared with $1000 initial outlay means it has cost only $4 a week ..... less than one coffee a week..... stupid way to justify cost to usage....but you get what I mean :)

But untill that day comes, i still refuse to buy a slim

My 60gig phattie died a while back, was sad but then i got a 320gig sexy slim ps3 and I felt better again. It's funny though my two six-axis controllers I got with my phattie still work great and my three dualshock 3 controllers have all broken.

It joins the legions of 60GB monoliths that now stand like dark gravestones to remind us all of the day we lost a friend.

RIP Brave beast, you gave your all and lasted longer than many of your brothers.

I'm sure there's a nice slim PS3 out there looking for a good home ;)

It's nice to see everyone being mature about the YLOD.

My PS3 is, probably, due to YLOD sometime in the near future and I wonder what can I do with it once it does.  I mean there's not exactly a PS3 graveyard.

I saw a poster for it in 1st Choice the other day but couldn't find it instore.

It also had their "honey" one, which I gues is probably like WIld Turkey's American Honey, which is nice on the rocks. As is the Jim Beam Black Cherry.

Sorry to hear it Smelck :smileysad: Mine died again after many, many hours of service. It's going to get re-balled, as soon as I can scrape together enough coin though :smileyhappy:

Also, the best drink to have on the rocks:

Totally understand what you are feeling. My 60 died a month or so ago.So I bought a slim.

I dont care about the new machine like i did my Launch console.
