How should you react when somebody asks you to stub out your cigarette in a pub?
Of course... you go to get a chainsaw, come back to the pub, and start attacking people.

The drama unfolded on August 5 last year. Dinnen lit a cigarette inside the bar and was escorted off the premises after he refused to put it out. He returned brandishing the chainsaw 50 minutes later. Shocking CCTV footage from inside the pub shows Dinnen chasing drinkers desperately trying to escape. Dinnen used the chainsaw to smash the glass in the pub door to get out as men armed with chairs and tables forced him out of the building.
He was overpowered and attacked by customers outside for "disrespecting their pub" as the police raced to the scene. "He was taken outside and received punches. It was an element of summary justice for disrespecting their public house.

You have to wonder how some people's brains work if they think that sort of thing is acceptable. Good on them for overpowering him though.

I watched a film about this last night.
But really he didnt attack anyone, he just waved a chainsaw near them, they did attack and assault him though which I thought was unreasonable, he was withdrawing and they knew who he was.

Sorry, but no. If someone is of the mindset that they have no problem with walking into bar with a chainsaw and waving (and nearly striking people with) it, then anything that happens to them beyond that point they have brought on themselves.
We used to live in a "bigger man walks away" society, but now its a "guy walking away gets stabbed or kicked to death" society.
If you show such aggression to people, threaten their lives with a weapon over not finishing a smoke, there is no reason to consider that you will not kill somebody.
The second someone even produces a weapon, let alone threatens me with it, I would consider myself to be under a life threatening attack. I wouldnt wait until claret is spurting out of someones neck before reacting to it.

Did i say dont defend yourself? there is a difference between defending yourself and chasing a fleeing man and then beating him with a gang just cause he waved a silly chainsaw in the air, did he even injure anyone?
Also, they all waited until he was fleeing before attacking him, when they thought he was attacking they ran like cowards..
When they realised he wasnt a real threat, and hadnt hurt anyone, and was just trying to scare them, they ran after him to beat him.
