Re: Revenge of the botnet administrator?

You don't need to define "general discussion" because you are clearly having a discussion. The only definition of concern is "general", and it's fairly broad.

What is the standard definition of general discussion ? Why are we off topic ? :smileysad:

Off topic is standard practice round these parts :smileywink:

Re: Revenge of the botnet administrator?

rfc4907 is depressing ! As a user level developer of network apps I thought things were more deterministic ! :smileysad:  Im beginning to see that we have been lucky so far that our apps have been so simple in terms of external interfaces .

To my defence I didnt write these apps from the beginning Ive just taken over responsibility of some them . :smileyhappy:

This thread certainly started a whole chain of events ! We are looking to do a major overhaul during the summer to ipv6 proof and make it possible to use the apps on multiple interfaces . All thanks to ipv6day ! :smileyvery-happy:

The second design you described looks a little unreliable what do you use it for ?

I'd say that's a nop. To quote Warren_Jeeves: "Let's talk out of our arses pretending we know what we're talking about".

But I did try a quick search, just in case there was one. Lo and behold:

General discussion a Minister or a member may give notice of a motion that any policy or situation may be discussed by the Assembly;

Highly applicable, as you can see. Though I only found a definition. I couldn't find The Standard Definition.

Why are we off topic ? :smileysad:

We aren't. If we were, someone would have informed the moderators and they would have locked/moved the thread. Remember that when some random user tells you that you are breaking the rules: The moderators moderate. Everyone else is just a back-seat moderator and should be ignored.

And the corollary is that if you think someone is breaking the rules, don't raise a stink about it, use the "Report Inappropriate Content" link, and let the proper people handle it.

Re: Revenge of the botnet administrator?

The Assembly gives the impression that everyone is included in the discussion instead of 2 IT nerds rambling on.

You do realise this thread isn't compulsory reading yeah? The contents became apparent several pages back and the thread title hasn't changed to fool you into thinking it was about something different :smileyhappy:

Re: Revenge of the botnet administrator?

I expect no less - but I'm not the one moaning about a discussion being held in a discussion forum.
