I can't go to sleep in silence, just can't do it. I need the TV (on timer) in the back ground or an audio book.
If I try to sleep without a slight distraction, I find myself mentally re-running every embarrassing or regrettable incident I can possibly remember in my life.
I'm not the only one !
I've mentioned this before in a thread a while back, which I think some people found quite odd, but I heavily rely on Sleepmachines.com's CD's that I've bought from them, played through my Squeezebox.
I'll either set the TV on timer and fall asleep to that, or I'll stick a Sleepmachines on - I can't go to sleep in a deadly quiet room. My brain just goes into analytical overdrive !
I can't recommend Sleepmachines stuff enough - planet_lee ....you should try them out mate. The three that I use are 'Rain and Thunder', 'Rain 2 No Thunder' and 'Vacuum Cleaner' (strange I know lol ! )
Falling asleep to these sounds is just so comforting - especially when sometimes the TV in the background can be too much. They're a lifesaver.
p.s @ Balsawood - it is just like a hangover !

I always make sure i get some sleep in the day. I can never sleep during the day because the sunlight sneaks through my curtains and the stupid birds won't shut up outside.
