Re: Sony BRAVIA Motionflow 200Hz LCD TV

The human eye needs 24fps to see a constant picture, BUT

Your eye sees a lot faster than that, and although you are not aware of it, your brain sees more than you do. This is how subliminal messages work, they put them in 1 frame, your eye cant detect them but your brain does.

They have done tests, and for some reason people although they can only see  60fps or so, or 60hz, they notice a vast difference when looking at a 200hz tv. I guess you have to go well past what the eye can see before it becomes "life like"..

When it gets high enough in fps/hz it will seem as if youre looking out a window. Your brain and eye will both be tricked into seeing one fluid video.

The problem with the sony tv is, in order to get 200hz, it waits a moment, it takes the first frame, and the second frame, and it then builds an "Inbetween frame", then shows the first frame, "inbetween frame" second frame.

Meaning, that there is lag, maybe 1/50th of a second lag (im not sure how long it is), Ive heard that for films/sports the result is very very nice, but the jury is  still out on games.

Re: Sony BRAVIA Motionflow 200Hz LCD TV

So is it worth it for gameing? I'm looking for a tv just for gameing, would this be the best thing for it? Or is this tv more for movies?

It's for both. Motionflow can be turned off anyway. For gaming its best to use the game mode because it eliminates input lag. If you want you can try the 200Hz for movies and games but that's not really my thing I prefer 1080p 24p

Re: Sony BRAVIA Motionflow 200Hz LCD TV

Game mode disables motionflow anyway and lag is 0 - 10ms the same as W4500. However, with motionflow enabled lag is 15 - 20ms lower than the W4500.

Re: Sony BRAVIA Motionflow 200Hz LCD TV

No you don't need it for gaming, you are better off at the default 60hz and most like it will run at that when using HDMI, leave the 200hz to SD TV along with their image processing.

Anyway I know the TV you are talking about however if you have the cash you are better off getting that 100Hz Sony panel with the LED Backlight!

Sorry to nitpick, all you've posted is great but of course your eye detects that single frame (regarding subliminal messaging) because if it didn't then there would be no data to send to the brain :smileytongue: Obviously after that point your subconscious sees it but your active forefront memory has already forgotten about it or your subconscious decides it isn't important info anymore but remembers what it sees?
