Re: Sugar on bread

[ Edited ]

A sugar sandwich is poor people food, Fen is correct. I know because I grew up in a poor home and its what my mother used to give me. As a child I loved them, but the thought of it now repulses me, especially when you consider the amount of sugar already in the average white sliced loaf. Its why they put those disgusting pickles in Mcdonalds (another example of poor people food) if they didnt, Mcdonalds 'sandwiches' would have be classed as a sweet rather than a savoury by British food law due to the high sugar content in the bun. The pickle prevents this like kryptonite prevents superman from flying. But you probably all knew that already.

As for sugar? That just sounds completely wrong

lol, pretty much every hard worker I knew as a kid did sugar on bread, it was in the city but they were all factory workers, dock workers, builders. 10 sugars in their tea, crisps on bread, they still do that without the sugar. Office workers and the likes wouldnt eat that kind of stuff.
