I used to be a fair bit more impulsive than I am now, I actually started in the Irish Navy because they told me I could sail to scotland during the summer on one of their small sail yachts.

When I was in cathal brugha barracks doing the navy stuff, I was tiing knots etc, I found out that the Irish navy just chases fishermen all day, and that you had to be high ranking to take the boats on holiday. Then when I was outside some Army guys came over and started to make fun of me when they found out I was navy.

Anyway I ended up in the Irish Army and then the Legion through other impulsive moments. Actually now I think about it my whole life has been me deciding stuff on the spot :/ even going to uni I decided that in one day on the spot..

Re: The Army

Excuse my absolute ignorance, I know nothing about the military but what do you mean by 'legion'?

Re: The Army

I'd assume the French Foreign Legion.

Possibly. I'm not aware of any others that are colloquially referred to as 'the legion'.

Re: The Army

Yeah the legion is a French elite wing. The French Foreign Legion.

They only take non nationals, french people join but they give up their nationality by claiming to be from a french oversea territory.

I didnt mean he should join them, but other armies allow people from other countries to join. If you want you can nearly get into any army even American, and you dont have to limit yourself to your own country.

Re: The Army

Wasn't Bear Grylls part of the Foreign Legion? Or was it just the Indian army and the British SAS?

I love Bear Grylls.
