University Accommodation help

Okay so I have recently enquired about this to UCAS and have also sent e-mails to the concerned Universitites over accommodation for September 2012.

However I may receive a faster response on here from somebody who has gone through the same thing. I want to apply early for Sutdent IQ accommodation in Salford and Sheffield University as the competition for this accommodation is fierce as they are the best in the United Kingdom, offering double bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. However I am still waiting to hear back from Salford University regarding whether or not my application has been successful, it is dependant on an interview which is all the way at the end of April.

So I was wondering whether or not it is possible to book your place in the accommodation at this moment in time and if I am not successful in my interview I could just withdraw my application?

Re: University Accommodation help

AFAIK you have to be accepted at the uni to be able to book uni accommodation but it may differ between unis.

Re: University Accommodation help

Pfft! En-suite bathrooms indeed.

Whatever happened to students living off cold baked beans in a tiny, damp, cockroach-infested bedsit illuminated only with a flickering 40 watt bulb?

Re: University Accommodation help

just to add to what wraith said some unis require that you have them as your first choice before you can book accommodations with them. For example if memory serves me right Nottingham uni would only let you book accommodations early if you had them as your first choice if you didn't then you had to wait till results day.
You can't save time only spend it.

I think all that comes afterwards once they are on the dole with a useless degree these days.

Re: University Accommodation help

Different Uni's have different policies.

I was guaranteed accommodation but didn't get to go through the process until after results day.

Re: University Accommodation help

Student iq accommodation isn't directly linked to the Universities though. They are just accommodation sites for students in that area. For examples students from Manchester Metropolitan could stay in the accommodation sites in Salford. I don't know, maybe I could get over my fear of telephones and phone them.

Re: University Accommodation help

I was only able to apply for my accommodation for York as soon as I got my results. For Warwick, they allowed me to apply for accommodation as soon as I picked them for my back up.

So it depends on Uni to Uni as people have mentioned.

It's been rebranded to Tesco Value range now.

But yeah, it's more based on what the uni decide anyway rather than ucas. The uni are making the decision on whether you're worthy or not, ucas are just the go between. If you want to know about accomodation you need to speak to the specific office in the uni.
