Oh it is bad. I kept waking up every couple of hours and then having to change position but being unable to do so because of the sleeping bag. And then if you get really unlucky and get something hard under your back that just makes it so much worse. And the noise of rain bashing your tent. And the wind blowing the walls around. And the stench in the tent. And the hard floor not giving your muscles any rest. There is more but I think the point is clear.

But yeah agreed that the sanitary stuff is the worst part, but during the expedition you just have to ignore it and live as one would in a slum.

Fen had the same problem in the big pile.

I knew that was coming. :smileyhappy:

Re: Urgh camping

If the weathers rubbish I just usually have a few drinks and go to sleep, I can sleep through most noise.

Re: Urgh camping

I love camping if there's no rain or walking involved. Booze and a big fire is what it's all about.......who needs a shower and great food? Roughing it for a few days is one of my favourite pass times

Re: Urgh camping

You're clearly not camping properly.

My best tip would be to get incredibly drunk around an open fire so you pass out in your tent, enabling you to have a night of comfort.

Now that's what I call camping.

Sleeping on hard floor, with sheep crap under you, wind through the tent, tasteless boiled food, no shower for days, feeling as dirty as what you're sleeping on. God, who does this for fun?

Airbeds, not camping in a farmer's field, avoiding beans, not having stereotypical 'outdoor' food, taking advantage of local amenities and mayhaps watching where you pitch your tent usually overcome these!

It's seemingly not for you, but there's a certain appeal to camping for some of us.
