I saw that on the news tonight, silly people.

I was watching some documentary the other night from 2008 discussing violent video games and there was some American woman talking about how this teenager who killed a few of his class mates years ago got all his training from playing quake because he had never used a gun before, so Quake must have trained him how to use a gun.

Another bad day for gaming today just because some loser shares an interest with millions of nice people out there, the whole hobby is put under the spot light. Edited. Oops.

Yeah video games are like real life. I got shell shock from playing Call Of Duty.

If that was true would everyone just run about into enemy gun fire all the time, but as long as you stop and hide every so often the wounds heal within seconds. 

How did he have time to plan a massacre, read up norse mythology and play wow if he was playing cod for 16 hours a day?

I facepalm at people who blame video games for people acting out on violence. I haven't read the link though, because any reports like this are all the same, and I can get the jist of it.

The guy was most likely a Psychopath/Sociopath (Antisocial Personality Disorder) more than anything, or even had Schizophrenia, depending on what his point was of killing these people.

We ALL have the capability of murdering someone, or acting out violently as such, we just don't all do it.

If these dumb journalists want to blame video games, then they may as well blame music videos, soap operas, movies, music, and everything else.

If anyone has an unhealthy obsession with anything then aspects of that obsession can be fed by any kind of material be that computer games, television, films or pornography. They say that some paedophiles are turned on by nappy adverts, most of us find that idea abhorrent but it doesn't make it any the less true.

If guns and killing are your thing you can certainly feed your obsession through gameplay and if that involves gaming accoutrmements then it could be assumed that that may add to the fantasy.

I don't think anyone would blame gaming alone but it can be factored into what is probably a myriad of reasons for someone acting in the way Breivik did.

The media love to grab situations where they can use it as an excuse, they forget to report that millions of people play the game for fun and for no other reasons.
