Don't knock the old girl the PS2 totally rocked last generation i still own two Phat Black and Silver Slim. 

What were your gaming highlights? Not a RPG fan myself but played loads of everything else from Ratchet and Clank to COD The Big Red One.

Ratchet and Clank. But then i didn't have many games for the PS2

I never owned one nor the first PS.

When the first PS came out I opted for the Saturn because of Virtua Fighter, then moved onto the N64 and Dreamcast and never gave the Playstation brand a second thought. After that PC gaming got most of my attention although I did end up buying the first Xbox and didn't really play it very much.

I stopped playing games for a while due to a few reasons and when the PS3 came out I had a pretty good bank balance and wanted a new TV, so when I bought my TV I decided to get a PS3 too at the same time (I don't know why I choose to buy one, I think it was just because I could afford one and fancied getting back into gaming because my PC was pretty much dead by then and I just wanted something to pick up and play).

First time I played MGS2, fell in love with the series. Same with GTA3

I had an xbox instead, but if we can spread it to generic "last generation" I'd say big 3D sandboxes, done best by the GTA games (3, vice city, san andreas) and copied with varying degrees of success by others.

Mashed was a ps2 fav. I like the LOTR games and DMC too. And Prince of persia, specially sands of time. Those are my most memorable.

There is a few. Mainly the Legacy Of Kain games, GTA Vice City, Final Fantasy X, Timesplitters and XG3 racing.

Dunno, it had lots of great games, I have tonnes for it, maybe 30 times the games I have for the ps3.

I think what defined it for me was the developers more willing to try stuff, and more willing to push games over to us like monster hunter etc.

With the odd exception they now seem interested in giving us games tht follow proven forumlas, and anything that wont make a billion can get delayed and dumped unless the developer really pushes for it.
