Hey I was looking at new laptops and after a lot of research I have concluded on this 2 laptops (both are priced exactly the same and have the same casing):

Intel® Core™ i3-2310M, 
15.6" HD Screen, 
Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit, 
6GB RAM, 
640GB HDD, 
1GB GT 540M Graphics, 
2x2.0 USBs 1x3.0 USB

Intel® Core™ i5-2410M, 
15.6" HD Screen, 
Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit, 
4GB DDR3 RAM, 
500GB HDD, 
1GB GT 540M Graphics, 
3x2.0 USBs

I will be gaming on this laptop and I will be using it for university so I want it to last at list 3-4 years and the only differences are that one has a slower CPU but it also has one 3.0 USB a slightly bigger hard drive (which I doubt I will need) and 2 extra GB of RAM...

So how much would an i3 slow me down?

(PS: I am talking about battlefield 3 level of gaming D: )

I really doubt that would run BF3. Have you looked into the Dell XPS (high octane-entertainment)? It has a i5 and GT555M (so I recall)

Yes desktops are superior, yes they should be chosen over a laptop where possible... But for seriously, if someone wants to know about a laptop. help them or shush.

I am going to go with the i5... I already have a desktop and I hate using it for anything ever since I got my current laptop :/ I really cant sit on the same sit everytime I want to use my computer... And the i5 laptop I was talking about above can run Crysis 2 on advanced settings at 30fps and Mafia 2 at an easy 30+ so I can live with that So battlefield 3 should look gorgeous even if its not maxed out on my laptop...

How often will you be taking this laptop actually out of your home?

At list 5 days a week Like I said I also need it for university work... and I like the portability of a laptop inside the house too much to go back to just using a desktop!!

Go for the I5, you probably wont need more than 4GB ram, but its easy enough to upgrade when you do.
