The only things the Xbox 360 has going for it is ease of coding for developers and the price. But it doesn't shine so bright when you look at the reasons for the above. It's technically inferior to the PS3 and it fails, literally, at every opportunity.
I know more than one person on their 3rd Xbox in as many years. I am really stumped as to how Microsoft has managed to hang onto their share of the console market because anyone else making a piece of equipment, for any market you care to think of, that breaks as often and regularly as the Xbox 360 would be out of business in no time at all.
Note to fanboy accusers: I'm a PC gamer so up yours. Consoles are my secondary avenue of entertainment and I bought the PS3 simply because it is the best console and media hub on the market.
I happily concede that Arkham Asylum is more fun on the PS3 ![]()

I wonder if the Xbox 360 has the lowest install base of the three 7th generation consoles.
However many 360's are no longer in use because of all the problems they have had? Sales to date is a completely different thing to console's currently in use, I myself would argue the Xbox 360 is currently in 3rd place and will likely stay there.
(I really hope this thread can stay open and the mods just get rid of and warn the posters who are trolling, we never get to talk about the other consoles in the same thread as the PS3

Well seeing as the sales figures are something like
Wii - 67M
Xbox 360 - 39M
PS3 - 35M
then I would say......... no, it isn't dominating the market

In my opinion it's nothing to do with marketing, it's the price. Going on personal experience I find the vast majority of 360 owners to be adolescents, meaning their mummy or daddy probably bought the console for them. What are they going to buy the kids? A console that can be had for just over £100 that can play the same games as another console that is on sale for £220+
Never mind the fail rate and the fact that every accessory costs an absolute bomb, including the hard drives. Never mind the fact it's on paper, the weaker of the two, never mind about the looks of the thing, it's a big beige p.o.s and if you want something that looks slightly better then it reaches PS3 prices. Never mind the fact that the games are being written to yesterdays technology (DVD's). Some may call me a fanboy but I've had both consoles and barring party chat, I'd say the PS3 is a much nicer, much more grown up, much higher quality affair. The XMB is a much higher class experience in my opinion than the horrific 360 menu. The whole GUI of the 360 looks like an arthritic kid drew it.
As for the whole "it's easier to code for" I don't believe that. I'd go more along the lines of it makes sense to write for the weaker hardware, and then just port over to the more powerful system, only adding a couple of the bells and whistles that the PS3 is capable of, mainly AA. I don't care what Valve say either, they have gone right down in my estimations. TF2, L4D and L4D2 have all been empty shells of games designed for the PC community to heavily mod, but still they are needlessly released on console where there is no modding community. Utter nonsense.
Anyway this is starting to go way off topic now so I'll leave it there!
