For dev team - Phyre Engine

[ Edited ]
Just a question, as I am curious. Will sony's Phyre Game Engine be integrated within the playstation suite SDK?

Thanks

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

Most probably not. PhyreEngine is not C#/mono based.

Correct it is not C#/Mono, but the Xamarin team have done some work in making PhyreEngine# using C#. See here - http://tirania.org/blog/archive/2009/Jun-08.html

I would love to see PhyreEngine# as part of this SDK.

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

Thanks for the suggestion of having PhyreEngine in PlayStation Suite.

How many other people would be interested in having this? Please comment and/or Kudos if you have any thoughts on this :smileyhappy: It is really dependant on how many developers would want to work with it.

We'd love to hear your feedback.

Thanks,

James

My assumption would be that /everyone here/ would like to work with that engine.

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

Any tools which minimize or reduce the work necessary to get a game up and running is desired.

PouncingKitten Games
Chris Covington, Ph.D.
Xbox 360 - Glide, Bingo Party, Poker Night
Flash - BunnyRun, Tic-Tac-Poker

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

I also agree that having an engine with PhyreEngine's pedigree would be a fantastic bonus.
Of course none of us know exactly how hard/easy it is to work with, but most of us( I think ) are aware what it is capable of and the range of games that can be created with it ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhyreEngine ).
So would this be PhyreEngine# or native PhyreEngine, and would this also work on Android devices?

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

Agreed. The community would love to have such engine, even if it take some time to be ready for use.

Re: For dev team - Phyre Engine

I'm surprised it's not already freely available to developers, with a similar licensing structure to UDK, CryENGINE or Unity. Surely the more developers that are familiar with it the better? We're planning on using it for a commercial product very soon anyway, but It would have been great to be able to get up to speed with it before we start full production.

Anyway it's a +1 from us at Nosebleed Interactive.
