Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Hi CartBlanche,

if you need someone to test monogame with pssuite i'm your man. I just ported my upcomming game to monogame last weekend.

So tell me when it's worth.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Thanks SiENcE,

As you are probably aware, the MonoGame development branch is going through a bit of an over haul right now, so I've delayed the PSS port until the release of the OpenGL ES 2.0 integration and will restart the PSS port with that code base and the just released PSS 0.97 SDK. At which point I will invite the likes of you and others to help test it.

Do you have a bitbucket login? As I can only invite people from there to the private PSS repo.

Btw, saw your tweets about your port, and I think I retweeted you video one.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Hey CartBlanche,

It's Ali/ascisson/shinali/XNB decompressor guy, just got access to this SDK and a Vita (though its not supported yet). I'd like to take a look at the branch and see if there is anything I can do. My bitbucket is still alisci01

MonoGame progressed very quickly from the time I was away.

CartBlanche, do you have SpriteBatch working?

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

I posted a massive update to this thread last night, and it has disappeared?

Anyone from Sony know if large threads are moderated? It had about 3 links in it.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Post it in segments, if the forum is being buggy again. I think they're all off on the weekends, so I wouldn't expect an official response until Monday.

I was watching for your update last night after I saw you mention it, but wondered why it never showed up.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

[ Edited ]

OK let's try this again...

A lot has happened since the last time I posted on this thread back in January.

In early Feb, 2 other MonoGame team members and I met in Brussels and presented a talk on MonoGame. This talk can be seen here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLWE52mkii0 . Unfortunately the last 15 minutes wasn't recorded, due to camera battery life. In those last 15 minutes I talked about the future of MonoGame and mentioned supporting the PSS SDK.

Also as part of the future of MonoGame we proudly showed off this demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEAdC-4gfHI for the first time. It is the Mix10 3D Reach demo running on MacOS X. The demo is actually using the original HLSL, which is being dynamically converted to GLSL when the app starts up.

As you can see it is not perfect, but we are getting there.

Since that talk I've been busy and sick, in equal measures, hence why I've not been on here and generally just flitted around twitter ( @MonoGameTeam ).

The amazing 3D progress we have made in such a short time was only possible because the guys from Flying Dev Studio - http://flyingdevstudio.blogspot.com/ - added 3D to their fork of MonoGame, while porting their flight simulator, and they then generously donated back those changes to the MonoGame project. Their flight sim is due to be released on the iOS App Store sometime this week, assuming it gets past review.

So, why all this background info? Well As the develop3d branch of the MonoGame codebase is now the future of MonoGame, there seems little point to use what I currently have. So this week I will update the bitbucket PSS SDK project with the develop3d branch and then continue the port using that. So essentially starting from scratch.

I still need confirmation from James and anyone else from Sony that I can add people from here to the private BitBucket project, so that those interested in the port can help out. This time I'll get people involved ealier, if Sony give the go ahead.

Oh yeah one last thing, has anyone here has played or heard of Bastion. Well, they used a modified MonoGame to port their awesome game to Google Native client. So I am hoping to pick their brains about what they did exactly, so that others can easily port their games to Google NaCL as well.

That brings everything up to date. Probably not as exciting as everyone hoped.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Thanks for the update, it's nice to see the 3D features being added. Hopefully the SCE guys will allow the BitBucket sharing, I'm really excited to see where this is going.

Just out of curiosity, how much did you have working in PSS before the fork?
