Hi Nayus,

Most sample projects will be based on the current batch of ported XNA Samples and StarterKits that already work on MonoGame's other platforms.

I'll post here once we commit our first sample. Probably Draw2D will be the first one as that has no sound requirements.

Hi Nayus,

As SpriteFonts are not implemented yet in this port, Draw2D compiles but does not run yet. But I had a few minutes and quickly ported the XNA Aiming demo ( original version here - http://create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/sample/aiming ), which compiles and runs just fine in the PSS SDK emulator and handles touch input.

Here is the code

https://github.com/CartBlanche/MonoGame-Samples/tree/master/Aiming

As you can see it really is not that much different than other XNA games. There are a couple of IFDEFs, but the nuts and bolts of the game should stay exactly the same. That has always been our aim with the MonoGame project.

From my experience porting games, most 2D XNA games take about 10-15 minutes to port to MonoGame.

The 3D MiX 10 Reach demo ( http://create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/sample/reach_graphics_demo ) took me 15 minutes from the time I downloaded the sample to when I had it running in the iOS simulator.

Most of the time is spent adding assets and changing the compiler settings, if anything. Then once it compiles, invariably the new platform will need tweaks for resolution, input etc. But you'll get that with just about any port to a new device/Operating System.

Anyway this is the last PSS Suite update post I'll be making here. I have created a PSS Suite progress thread on our forums, so please jump to http://monogame.codeplex.com/discussions/355544, to find out how the port progresses, or as I said earlier, follow on twitter @MonoGameTeam.

If you would like to help speed up the PS Suite port of MonoGame, please post on the thread above, or send a message to Danzel directly.

All the very best with your respective projects.

Screenshot of our develop3d branch of MonoGame running on iOS and Windows 8 Metro. The guys at SickHead Games and makers of ARMED! are heading up 3D branch and as you can see making amazing progress. We'll add a PlayStation Suite to the mix soon.

This really is my last post on this thread :smileyhappy:.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

Hi! I'm doing the same exercise by my own and I created a small XNA2PSM lib to work specifically with a small 2D engine I use for XNA games. Maybe I can contribute with some piece of code.

Some of the classes I implemented are: GameTime, ContentManager, SpriteBatch, SpriteFont and GestureSample.

Some of those classes could be a bit uncomplete... but they work for my pourposes.

I believe it was 0.99 compatible, but it needs to be updated to the latest v0.99.11.

We are gearing up for v3.0 of MonoGame, due in October. We will have some initial PS Mobile support, but realistically only post v3.0 will someone be able to dedicate a couple of weeks in making sure 3D works as well as it does on other platforms.

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

It has been a while since I updated this thread.

MonoGame 3.0 is in heavy beta, we have an installer for thos interested into getting their game onto Windows 8, but there is still some movement happening within the PlayStation Mobile port.

Like this excellent video which shows Undead Carnage Running on Windows Phone, Android and Playstation Vita using MonoGame...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g8whs6ndtY

95% code reuse???

How can I embed theabove video?

If anyone from Sony is reading this, we could use some help in getting the 3D side of MonoGame on PSM up to stratch. Any takers??

Re: Getting MonoGame to work with PS Suite...

It has been a while since I posted here so a quick update is in order.

We have now released MonoGame 3.0.1. OUYA support is not in the works.

There also seems to be an increase of developers now using MonoGame for PlayStation Mobile.

See this thread http://www.monogame.net/news/2013/02/18/are-you-targetting-playstation-mobile for more details.
