How to use both screens on Tablet P?

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully set up something to render to both screens on the Tablet P?

As far as I can tell GraphicsContext only exposes a single 1024x480 resolution for the top screen and the default behaviour is to show the on screen controller on the bottom screen. Since I'm not using the OSC I'd like to show some stats and game info on the bottom screen but can't see how I'm meant to set it up.

Thanks,

Martin

So I'm guessing this is currently impossible? Hopefully this will be supported in a future SDK release as it'd be a shame to just leave the bottom screen black when we can use it for an alternate display.

I don't have a tablet P but I was under the impression that through the OscCustomizeTool in tools you can set the bottom screen to have the on screen controls ie the standard playstation buttons that you might want to use.

I think that's all you can do or will ever be able to do

Thanks, and yeah as I said I'm not using the OSC as my game doesn't need the full set of gamepad controls. I'd like to be able to use the bottom screen to display some alternate content. I don't know if this is going to be supported in a future update but specifically listing a dual screen tablet amongst the supported devices I think we should be allowed to make the most of what the device has to offer.

Re: How to use both screens on Tablet P?

At this point it is not clear to me what the strategy is for the PSM SDK.

Are Sony going to provide a common set of functions that will work on as much as possible Sony certified devices (including HTC), or are they also going to provide entries that will give access to device specific features?

The last one seems to me more attractive for Sony as this would help to make sure that people will prefer a Sony device above another (Sony certified) brand like HTC because of those extra features that are supported.

At this stage, some clarity would be nice for developers so they know if they can count on development support for device specific features like the two screens on Tablet P in the future (and many other cool hardware features of the Sony specific devices mentioned in the Suggestions section).

Hi Martin,

Just to confirm, you are not currently able to use the bottom screen apart from as an On Screen Controller on the Sony Tablet P as @Daveid had mentioned.

Thanks,
