@antibolo
Agree.
@James
There are too many iOS game developers, bootcamp or VM maybe good for normal user but not good to be development environment.

Running Windows in Bootcamp is about as close as you can get to running Windows fully natively. I use bootcamp running Windows 7 on my iMac and MBP for development on a variety of platforms and only ever boot back in to OSX for iOS stuff. Never had any problems with it, infact my Wife's PC has more problems with Windows than my iMac does!

Well, it is my problem, I can't switch my hands between sets of keybinding smoothly.

If you expected C++ it means that you doesn't read anything about the PSSuite SDK when it was announced. It uses C# cause they can't give you the "control" you have with C++ over the device, using a C# VM (i assume is mono) they can put some limitations on what you are running in the ps vita and prevents that you create some hack for running pirated games for example.
This does make sense, but is still quite annoying. Hell, if only they could get Objective-C in there. That would make me soo happy (but it's not going to happen... period).

Hi all,
We are aware that many users would like to use the tools on other platforms such as Linux and Mac OSX, however we have no plan for this at the moment, but we will keep you posted if we do in the future
Thanks

Well, this is quite a depressing statement. Lynux and Mac OSX users are quite familiar with portable development. I'd say more so than regular Windows C# programmers. Not a good idea...

This SDK is as far as I can tell is a modified MonoDevelop base. With a few libuaries thrown in. C++ does give you more control over the hardware alright. But at the same time C# is a very quick lauguage to develop in.
Lads if your any good at programming at all ye could easily run the SDK under WINE for OS X or MonoDevelop. Install MonoDevelop for OS X and then just include all the libuaries from the windows exutable. Maybe extract it using 7zip or something...
I suppose interportability would come into play though.
This is only the beta after all. So I'd give them a bit of time to iron out all the bits and pieces.
If your interested in giving MonoDevelop a try here's the address:

>C# is a popular programming language around the indie dev. scene so I can see why Sony picked it.
Its also very versatile, look at other tools using it like Unity etc.
How come? 90% of iOS indie games are written in C++/ObjC. Windows Phone development is in C#. Are there many apps for it? How does that compare to iOS/Android?
Google originally wanted people to develop for Androin in Java, but then realised their mistake and added support for C++.
I think not supporting C++ and not having IDE on other platforms (Mac OS X, Linux) is a huge mistake.
You CAN limit what developers can do with hardware in C++ also. Just take a look at Google Native Client. This is how this should have been done.
To me, PS Suite looks like a failure in its current state.

Exactly. The purpose of PSS was an alternative/competitor to XNA and not getting behind the "indie dev" scene. When it comes to supporting OS X/Linux you have to keep in mind, that the SONY toolchain is using the SNC compiler, which is just not available for other platforms than Windows. Also it is used for the different PlayStation Targets (PS3, PS2, PSP).
There are not that many (AAA) studios out there, using Linux/OS X for game development, so support for Linux/OS X is just no majority and gets dropped/will be dropped or not even started.
The main reason why indie games are written in C++/ObjC ist just the fact that major SDKs are C++ (like Marmalade) and even the whole iOS SDK/Framework is ObjC. C# is a great language for fast prototyping and such, but lifting the need of doing memory management yourself won't help you develop your development skills and understanding of the inner workings as much as when coding in C++ or ObjC without the new iOS 5 GC functionality.
When it comes to native coding on the PSP/Vita/PS3 or fully leveraging the power the system is offering, there is no way of getting around C++/ObjC.
C# or any other VM based language is introducing just another layer of complexity. F.ex. Unreal Script. It's great to develop in, but if you need fast code, you are implementing it in C++.
Never the less, PSS was never designed for implementing AAA games or sophisticates stuff, but for giving the "average developer" a tool for being creative on the Vita.
