Project Runs in Simulator, Black Screen on Vita

Here's the source of my xTile port: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23693330/PSxTile.zip

 

It runs perfectly fine in the simulator after fixing the file paths to account for the 0.98 version changes, but my Vita freezes when I try running it. Any ideas?

Have you checked that you can deploy and run a simpler project on your Vita or one of the bundled samples?

Try adding a breakpoint in your game loop while the screen is black, or add some debug output to some of your code so you can see if things are still executing but for some reason just not rendering?

 

I have noticed that with the debugger attached load time seems to be very slow (and performance in general is actually massively affected with the debugger attached). My game currently just shows a black sreen for a good 5 seconds on load whereas on Xperia Play and Tablet S it appears instantly. Even with debugger not attached it's there for a few seconds too.

I had everything commented out, and the only instruction to execute was a Console.WriteLine every update() frame. Same behavior, the Vita just freezes after all the DLLs are loaded. The GE2D sample started playing a few seconds after that point when I ran it. When I try to stop debugging my project, the Vita doesn't exit, and I have to hit the PS button and close the program.

Strange. I don't have the SDK installed on this PC but can check out your project later today. Someone else might be able to help in the mean-time.

Looking at your code, I noticed you do not have an app.cfg file. Somewhere I read that not having this file will produce a blank screen. All the samples in the sdk have this particular file. Give this a try and let us know the results.
