As I'm very interested in creating a MMO type of game for the PSS I've been wondering...
How exactly would we be able to keep the application up 2 date?
From what I saw, one can save data to a app-specific filesystem just fine... so updates would be possible...
However, what if the client application itself needs updating? Not just media files?

Since the SDK isn't even complete yet I don't think any real decisions regarding the PS Store and distribution model have been made yet. We'll be given further details when the 'Final' SDK is released.

Thats right but this is a very important core information that people, which want to start early development for future publishing, might want to know so they can prevent developing something which might be obsolete to begin with.

Perhaps you can use some sort of dynamic class loading mechanism to make the "client" part something very very minimal: Check for update (y -> update; n -> load/launch the 'real' client). I haven't had much time in PSS and C# isn't too familiar to me, but I think something like a C# class library might give you what you're looking for.

Yes I thought of this myself... however in one way or another... I need to fetch that class / update / call it whatever you want... into the application.
And I'm somewhat unsure whether Sony will see such updates without prior revalidation by them as a security threat or not...
That's why I'd like to play it by the rules in the book and make sure things work the way they should in the way they are intended.
I suppose for the time being I will concentrate on the actual games development, rather than update problematics for now and await a - hopefully - positive response from the Devteam at a later point.
