I have just bought this game and am stuck already.  At the beginning in Gaia, Kratos fights off a number of foes and the instruction is then to press the O button several times rapidly in order to raise the tree stump blocking his way.  I have tried this action repeatedly for almost 2 hours at different speeds and pressures and yet no matter what I do the log does not move.  All that happens is the character grunts and groans for a short while and then drops the tree trunk.  It is obvious that no matter what I do the tree trunk is not going to move and I am going to be stuck at the begninning of the game.  Has anybody else had this problem.

Try reloading the game, or starting a new file. You have to press the circle button rapidly for about 5 seconds, really fast is best.

Maybe put down the controller and use your index finger and see if that works. we're talking 5-6 presses a second,

Hold down R1 and press the circle button repeatedly.

Awwwwww, maaan. I hope your game is glitching at that point, because if it isn't,  you are going to struggle the rest of the game.

I just bought this game and had the same problem.  I had to start a new game to resolve the issue.  You don't have to hold down R1, either.  Just press R1once and then press O several times in a row.  The tree will slowly raise and then it will be thrown out of the way.

Guys, I am facing this issue and i also updated the game with version 1.03 patch. Hitting O keys repeatedly is not lifting the tree and m hitting like 7 hits a second. Kindly suggest.

Same here Can't get past that tree.

Yes!!! Hold down R1 to grasp the trunk and then let go of it and hit the CIRCLE really fast (as fast as you can) and eventually Kratos will lift it and toss it. It took me a while too. But it will move eventually. Click the circle very fast. You'll see.
