DFGT Help!

Hi, I just bought a DFGT (I used to use a DS3) today and im encountering a couple of problems

I keep finding myself going off the track and the wheel moving by itself. E.g. Im going down a straight and it just wants to keep juddering by itself.

I've turned traction control back on as well as driving line, but i'm finding it doesn't want to move to it.

Is there any settings to change, like sensitivity, if so, what do you think is the best one to use?

Re: DFGT Help!

Is GT5 patched? Also go into the options and change wheel settings to pro and turn power steering on, should help. Using a wheel can take a while to get used to, as you get used to the wheel and force feedback you'll notice and indeed experience stuff like you mention hardly at all.

Re: DFGT Help!

Yep, my GT5 is updated. I haven't delved around in the wheel settings too much. By changing the wheel settings to pro, do you mean to the DFPro?

You have to hold onto the wheel. If you don't resist its movement enough, then it will move on its own. This is how haptic technology (force feeback) works. It seeks left, then right, then left... so you have to resist those movements.

In the end, you want to learn how to not turn the wheel any more than necessary. Be smooth.

Re: DFGT Help!

Each track is different, driving on Le Mans, you get to about 180mph and the wheel is all over the place in some cars, you struggle to keep it straight

Re: DFGT Help!

Ok these are my settings these work for me but may not be for everybody.Go to options scroll down to STEERING CONTROLLERS select STEERING SETTINGS select 1st SIMULATION 2nd ON 3rd 10.Then move onto a event or race when the track loads go into Driving Options and select the following

TRACTION CONTROL                  OFF

SKID RECOVERY FORCE            OFF

ACTIVE STEERING                      OFF

[ASM]                                            OFF

ABS                                                   1

Controller Steering Sensitivity           0

Finally in the Parts Shop i have always improved my cars by purchasing Rigidity Improvement, dont really know how this last one affects the handling but i have always done this Good Luck.

Well unfortunately FFB wheels aren't designed to act like real steering wheels. Gran Turismo 5 sends directions to the wheel with no regard if you apply force to the wheel or not. Slightly off topic, but I was playing Gran Turismo 4 today, and the force feedback was a little more realistic in this sense. The wheel wouldn't suddenly jerk side to side and it was a little bit more predictable, making it easier to drive.

You just have to get used to the idea of using a wheel with Gran Turismo 5, and once you get used to it, you will see your lap times improving :smileyhappy: .
