DIY H-Shift?

Hi!

New to this forum and not sure if it is right place for that question.

I went through all Gran Turismo titles except PSP edition. I do own a budget wheel

as G25 is too expensive.

Browsing Internet lately I came across homemade  clutches and h type gear shifters

combined with Driving Force Pro and linked to Desktop Computers, even thought about adding

G25 style paddles to Driving Force Pro.

I love building and crafting, I like idea of having h type shifter clutch and proper handbrake

lever. Ideally in carbon fibre and steel as g25 does not look very well in my opinion.

The question is : is it possible to build it and link it to PlayStation3 and use it like

G25 but better more rigid and bespoke.

 Has anyone tried that yet?

Any ideas, commetns welcome as I want to build a cockpit  for GranTurismo

Unfortunately, the best web site for mods, Race Sim Central, is down (but not out?), so keep an eye on it.

Now, there is also a UK site that has thread about various mods, but I seem to have missed adding a bookmark to my list. Maybe someone here can remember the link for you.

Re: DIY H-Shift?

I made my own sequential shifter, click my signature for pics. No idea how the H-shifter works so can't help I'm afraid.

Re: DIY H-Shift?

I made mine out of leftover shortcrust pastry from an apple strudel. Don't overcook it though, otherwise it just crumbles when you change gear.

Re: DIY H-Shift?

To be perfectly honest, I've seen a lot of people mod existing G25s and tinker around with the DFGT, but not build a H-pattern from scratch. The cost and time to do so would far outweigh buying a G25 second hand....especially if you were to do one with carbon fibre!

:smileywink:

Re: DIY H-Shift?

wow the way your talking would it be cheaper to just buy a race car and some track time?

Suppose if you found that too easy you could gut it and put the dashboard, seat, pedals and gearbox in your front room wire it all to your ps3 and have the best race simulator going.

Will have to sell your sofa and other furniture to create space but that will all help pay for the car and all the wireing and electricians course's you'll need.

And after your mrs leaves one day you'll have more time to work on it and money to spare now she's not getting you to save for holidays and wedding rings and any of that rubbish.

Plus when your done you can charge for people like us to come round and test it out.
