DLC Idea!

Hi there,

I bought the latest car pack last week, I bought it cause I wanted the Aventador...

however this did cost me €5.99... so I was wondering, wouldn't it be better if you could just buy individual cars in stead of having to pay for the whole pack...?

Re: DLC Idea!

I totaly agree, Like motorstorm, burnout and dirt 3 this is why i have only bought the tracks as i begrudge paying for cars i just dont want just to get one that i do want.I wont be buying cars ever unless they change to individual. Also selling them this way makes it much more affordable for everyone e,g, motorstorm cars cost 79p each.

Re: DLC Idea!

Wont happen because then only cars that reach the level of interest needed would be converted.

it then becomes a popularity contest.

There is no reason to do golfs because the ferrari fans could out number VW fans.

it would then be Purely a numbers game.

Re: DLC Idea!

Yeh i get what your saying but there are still a lot of players out there who would want them all regardless but i do think we should have the freedom of choice. But that is just my opinion.

Re: DLC Idea!

This would be a good idea, still have the car packs but the choice to buy indivudual cars would be great. It may be a popularity contest as someone said but at least PD would know what we like.

Re: DLC Idea!

Like GraphiteGB, I believe that this will never happen.

As I pointed out in another post it takes approximately 6 man months for PD to program and render each car. What some people are saying is that PD would invest the time and money into digitising a single car, only on the offchance it will be popular with people and they will buy it, and as such they might not get a return on that investment, sorry but that just is NOT going to happen.

While some might not agree, to be honest, I am glad that this will never happen. At the moment the cars in packs are catering for ALL tastes. The last pack had something for the supercar lovers, something for average car lovers and while the Jag might not be the best Race Car it IS still a top end race car, therefore something for everyone. That is the FAIREST way to do it, catering to everyone's tastes, if there is absolutely nothing in the DLC pack you don't buy it simple.

Personally knowing the amount of time and effort put into GT5 by PD I am happy to continue buying the packs exactly as they are. I have bought every pack so far and I intend to continue to do so.

For the record we ARE getting individual cars but they are specials and we have had them for free such as the Schultze and GT Academy special GTR's, the FT 86 and FT 86 concept II. These cars cost the same and take just as long as any other car to put into the game but PD get NO return on them whatsoever so how about we give Kaz and his team a break.

[ Edited ]

Well at the end of the day its the tracks packs that realy give you something different in the game the car packs dont realy make much difference given the large choice of cars the car packs are just another car.you also make it sound like if they sold them separate that it would be unfair ?????????????? they could still offer all cars for sale and if you wanted to buy the crap ones with real cash then that would be up to you.Its mot rocket science is it.

Re: DLC Idea!

No I did not say or imply that it would be unfair to sell them seperately, I simply said the way it is done as a package is the FAIREST by trying to cater for all tastes rather then a select few. For the record I can also guarentee it IS the cheapest way to buy the cars, buying items in groups is always cheaper then buying individually.

Just out of curiosty, you do realise, from a business point of view in order to get a return on both the cars that are "popular" and as you put it firstdave the "crap" cars to sell the cars individually you would probably have to pay at least £2 to £2-50 per car (CHEAP estimate). The reason for this is to ensure that the the investment in the cars that would not be so popular (or crap as you say) is covered. It has always been easier to recoup costs by overpricing more popular items then overprice less popular items. Motorstorm might sell cars for 79pence each, but I can guarentee you the research, vehicle testing, photograhy, video & audio recording and eventual programming time (and thus cost) going into the Motorstorm cars is nowhere near that of the cars in GT5 hence the higher price.

One last point, it makes me laugh when cars on GT5 are called "crap" by people. Just because a car is not to your tastes does NOT make it a crap car. I am less then 100 cars from having every single car. I do not have even ONE crap car in my garage, I might not like some, they may not be to my tastes but that does NOT make them crap. They might not handle to suit my style of driving, they might not accelerate as quick as I would like or go as fast flat out as I need, but it is surprising how a little tuning can improve cars.

Re: DLC Idea!

Hi Phoenix701220 I kind of agree with but you also have to take into account that car manufactures like nissan pay PD to there new cars into gt5 as they know that it increase brand awareness and sales,

Re: DLC Idea!

Tricky PD don't recieve income from car companies they have to pay to licence cars, the ford guy says gt increases 'brand awareness' but these corporations still want money for using their trademarks. To the op, variety is the spice of life try something different etc, i think thats why PD put a range of cars in each dlc.
