I have been at the Eiger Nordward time trial, Grand Tour special event, with that damn Alfa Romeo for several days solid and have probably had well over a thousand attempts at it.
It has now become an obsession but I just cannot beat the sodding thing.
Time to beat is 1:17:000 and my best time is 1:17:013 I just can't do it and it's driving me INSANE!!
I'm probably not the best at the game but I'm not crap, I have every gold up to the endurance races and have got gold in all special events except this one.
Generally, I always finish between half and one second of the target time.
Everything is good up to the tunnel but I lose time on the sharp curve after it and the long curve leading to the finish.
I have tried every different combination of race settings, tried wheel, tried controller, tried D-pad on controller, tried drifting, tried taking it careful, tried driving on the very edge of control, tried manual, tried automatic.
I have best results with default race settings and using the controller with auto transmission.
I just can't get close with gears or with the wheel.
I have watched dozens of vids of people getting gold and I really can't see what I am doing different.
So I am pleading for help here, can anyone give me any really good tips on how they beat it?
In return, I will give away a nice flashy car to anyone who can give me that killer tip that leads me to beating this effing trial.
By flashy car, I mean a car of that person choice. ANYTHING in my garage apart from the Jaguar XJ220 and Zonda R.
No X2010's I'm afraid but I have allsorts, highlights include:
Several supercars (Ferraris, Lambos, Merc, Veyron)
Several classic cars (Chaparral 2J, Muira, Caterham Fireblade, RS200 Rally Car, Lancia Delta Rally Car)
Several race cars (Minolta, Bentley Speed 8, Sauber Mercedes C9, Mazda 787, Audi R10 TDI, Peugeot HDi FAP, Nascars)
Formula cars (Both Ferraris and a Formula GT)
And a couple of Minis
I just got this with a pad after about 3 hours practise. Time 1:16.714. I'm well proud of myself. :smileyhappy:
Has anyone got a better time?
Edit: forgot to mention I used TCS 6 and ABS 4
Well I have never touched the event since to see if I could do it any faster.
I might go back one day...
I have seen a few 1.15.xx laps on YouTube. I would be interested to know just how fast it CAN be done.
1:15.xx is crazy! 1 second is like an hour in this race.
I don't blame you for not doing it again, lol.
I think its funny that the top times seem to be set by the people that were at the top end of the leaderboards in the first GT Academy. All those laps in the 350z must have helped. :smileyvery-happy:
I did this one very quickly and forgot about it but seeing this thread made me want to have another go to see how quick I could go. I got bored after half an hour ish but got in a couple of reasonable laps. If anyone is struggling to make up time or just want to be nosey, here's the replay file: (Its a 1:15.803)
Extract zip then copy PS3 folder to memory stick. Go to the Game Save Data Utility and copy the replay file to the PS3. Then import via replay theatre in game.
