I think that the great problem are flags in online profiles. Europe is very complicated on the national issues, for example: German don’t like English (same way back) , Austrian don’t like Slovenian,German don’t like Austrian and so on….
I experienced many times to be kicked:Stupid: out when entering the room. I have very good internet connection and I am very fair driver.Sometimes it lasts even an hour to find a room where they drive correct and where is no issue where are you coming from. My question is: when are you planing new update, where there will be an option to choose between a flag or some other picture in avatar?
Kind regards:smileyhappy:

Haven't played this for a while but I hope this is taken under consideration, maybe for GT6. Just because you live in a country, doesnt mean you should have to play under its national flag. I reckon a vote on this matter would return a big majority towards the option to choose your national flag.

Just to clear something up on this topic, the flag is based on where you registered your PlayStation Network Account not really your IP adress. For example if you create an account with US set as your home country, you will get a US flag.
And regarding to being kicked just because a country doesn't like another, well, my suggestion is, keep searching or make a lobby yourself, there are idiots everywhere and Gran Turismo is no exception, people need to put their differences aside and respect each other to make the game pleasant for everybody.

Re: Flags in online profiles

I once got kicked out of a NASCAR lobby full of Americans. 50 lap race which I dominated only to be kicked with a few laps left. I was very clean and did not cheat. Guess they were upset that a limey sob could beat them at their own sport :smileytongue:

...I realise that, that's exactly the issue. No reason why it can't be like eg. the Dirt games where you can choose your national flag, even if you don't live there anymore.

Re: Flags in online profiles

Hmmm,  interesting thread/responses.

Seems some would prefer, due to nationality bias, to drive under alternate national flags.

Some are calling for a vote to be able to choose which flag to drive under.

Some seem to suggest starting accounts under false addresses, against SONY T&C's, so we wouldn't want to condone that.:smileywink:

Personally, if I feel I'm getting kicked simply due to the Australian flag next to my name, then it's a 'thanks, but no thanks', because if that's their attitude then I wouldn't want to drive with that particular group anyway.

I'm proud to be Aussie, and if people don't like it, or are that narrow minded, then so be it.

Possible simple solution ... other than your own room ... an option to either have the flag symbol displayed or not.

A simple yes or no prompt regarding the flag symbol being either turned on or off.

I very rarely got kicked because I mostly did the hosting. If I was doing the kicking it was to do with removing people with poor racecraft or people who liked to use cars in front as brakes. It never had anything to do with their nationality. Wouldn't bother me where a player was from.

I would just like to see the introduction of the option, as you've just suggested, to race under a certain national flag.

Re: Flags in online profiles

I too have been kicked from several German and French rooms, on many occasions, even though I haven't turned a wheel in a race ? As soon as I've joined and my name is displayed....BANG, "you have been kicked from the lobby" ??

Now I don't usually host a lobby, but when I do, EVERYONE is welcome no matter where their flag says they are from and they are welcome to stay and race as long as they don't behave like a total idiot on the track, or be abusive to others.

I would also put my vote forward for the option to either not display country flags, or use an avatar instead to help kerb the unneccessary and mostly, un-justified kicking.

Another thing. Seeing as I am Welsh, living in Wales, why is there no option for me to display my national flag ? Yeah I know I live in the UK, but you would think being able to display your own nations flag be it the George cross for England, the St Andrews cross for Scotland or even the Red Dragon of Wales would be possible ? (just like you can in Dirt 3)
