Full Driver Licence -Can a GT Academy representative please clarify this point?

[ Edited ]

Hi there,

I wanted to enquire about this topic. I am currently the fastest in my country and I am over 18 years old. I noticed however that one of the requirements is to have a full driving licence which I do not have. I am aware that the relevant motorsport authority, the MSA do not require a full driver licence to apply for a National B licence so my question, what is the reasoning behind this requirement? If it is a requirement and cannot be changed, I have applied already for my provisional licence and I should be acquiring it within the next week. I really hope you can accept my application as this is really my only chance. I have created a petition for support for me to further participate if you wish to see it. Thank you.

Just wanted to say well done on coming 1st in Ireland. I finished 173 places and 7 seconds below you!

As for your problem, I haven't a clue what their reasons are. I think your best bet would be to contact MSA themselves and see what they have to say.

Best of luck in the National finals.

Cheers! I don't think the MSA could offer anything on it to be honest. I contacted Sony here but the girl on the phone didn't know what I was on about and just checked the rules that were there already and just said that I'd need a full driver licence.

Please, I really need help with this so can anyone give me any contact for a GT Academy representative?

unfortunately, those are the rules and they will apply to everyone. as to not needing a full license for a nat.b, i just dont know. i am really sorry to hear your plight, who knows? maybe you'll be quick enough in the finals that sony or whoever is promoting the academy may put you through anyway. if you have a provisional license here in blighty you can drive a car providing you are insured, display L plates front and rear and are supervised by someone who is over 21 and held a relevant license for more than 3 years. all of which im sure could be accommodated when you get in the real academy motor. BUT GOOD LUCK, keep your chin up, it may well work for you!
