Thw G25 looked great but I couldnt find any at retail anymore...

since im not totally confident at shopping online, i went to EB and picked up a Driving Force GT which

came out after G25

unfortunatly it doesnt have the H shaped gear box and the metal pedals nor clutch like the G25

is the G25 still in production? and should i  upgrade to G25 from this wheel once the GT5 is out?

Im wondering if G25 is how much more suprior in terms of playing GT5

and if this wheel is "good enough" to last a while?

The G25 is a much better wheel.  But the DFGT is no slouch either, the DFGT is the replacement for the DFP (Driving Force Pro, the GT4 wheel effectively) and the wheel is much better and has the extra buttons for in-game quick adjustments.  The biggest problem i found with the DFP, was that over time the pedals got a bit clogged and did some random things, like cutting out throttle or only giving me half brake power.  It was a simple fix of pulling apart the pedals and putting them back together.  The DFGT has the same looking pedals so it wouldnt surprise me to see it have the same issues.  In saying that, my DFP still works after 4 years and with just the odd month i have to pull the pedals apart to reset them, i have no issues.  The G25 on the other hand is a much better wheel, much more sturdy with a better feel. 

And yes, the G25 is still in production and you shouldnt have much trouble picking one up or ordering one.

Yeah D!ck Smith always has plenty of them, if not just get them to order one in.

I've had the DFGT for over 12 months with no problems and i reckon it's a great wheel 

and it's the official wheel of GT5, works good with Sega Rally and Motorstorm as well.

The G25 might look great and be a better wheel, but as far as i know the six speed gear shift

and clutch is only compatible with GT5 making it a $300+ toy that can only be fully used on one game.

Also the last time i went to D!ck Smith (1 week ago) they had DFGT for $98.99

I say get one of the Porsche wheels, the 911 turbo is the top of the line, but there'll be the carerra wheel soon as well and then the GT3 wheel

The G25 is out there, I've seen them at a few JB's and D!ck Smiths but they seem a lot more expensive than when I bought mine.  I paid $380 but i havent seen it below $450 lately.

D!ck Smith in Sydney has tons of them especially in their Power House stores.  I bought mine for $359 and it's just a MUCH better wheel than the entry level ones.  The wireless DFP just been seen in the stores now and that might be worth a try is space is a problem.

I bought the PS3 for the driving initially so I built a sort of a driving station to mount the wheel, the pedals and the shifter controls.  Next step is get myself a cheap racing seat!  Also just got back from Japan and went to this Toyota Futiristic showroom and they built a real simulator on GT4 platform with hydraulics and that's what I am looking into at the moment.

To be honest, the G25's mechanics is even better than the Porsche wheel and compaitble with more games.  The material used is also almost bulletproof.  The only complaint I have is the paddle shifters, in real paddle equiped cars, the paddles are not suppose to turn with the steering wheel but the GT25 has the paddles turning with the wheel.  So when you are in full opposite lock and then try to shift, it gets a bit akward.  Other than that, I highly recommend it and it's well worth the extra money.

actually the Porshce is defiantly the one with the better mechanics, 1 motor no 2 (but just as powerful) belt drive (not gear) for smoother FFB, the pedals are in a league of their own (bettered only by the club-sport pedals), and the Porsche is better than bullet proof, it's german lol, and it compatible with basically every game the G25 is (there are some temporary issues at the moment that occurred when the PS3's clock got to christmas), and you can effectively use it on more games 'cause you can reduce the turning angle for more arcadey games (where 900 degrees doesn't work so well)

also some real cars do have paddle shifters that move with the wheel

I've had three of the Logitech wheels (Driving Force, Driving Force Pro, and the G25), and the leather Ferrari wheel too.  The G25 is THE best wheel I've ever used.  It has a lot more metal parts than the predecessors, so it's VERY solid, it has great driving feel, and is weighty.

Most of the guys from GT Planet, Gran Turismo by The Numbers, Total Ozzie Racing Challenge, et al, use the G25.  It's a quality unit and you can't go wrong with it.  For the past two years we at TORC have absolutely "hammered" our G25s during weekend long LAN events, and they are virtually bulletproof.

I bought mine at ***** Smith (Melbourne) for $298 about a year ago.  When they first came out they were over $500.

I've played with the Porche wheel at ***** Smith too, but it's just too light and too much plastic for my liking.  If the Porche wheel was so good, then more guys from the (worldwide) Gran Turismo sites would be using it.  The Porche wheel is probably a nice wheel but most of the experienced GT guys use the Logitech G25.  If you get a G25 and want to race Gran Turismo, then you wont be disappointed.

I have heard gossip that there is a Logitech G27 in the works...but when?...who knows...

G27 is in the works it will be almost identical to the g27 with a few extra little fixes

separate H pattern and bang shifter for better H shifting feel  , just use the shifter you want . I will never use the bang( sequential ) shifter ..

All we need now I a decent ps3 racing game
