Re: GT Academy 2010 Time Trial (GT5 demo) dec 17th

Racing simluator. You nailed it on the head why you prefer Forza 3 to the TT demo. It's a time trial, so it's obviously not going to deliver the thrills of racing. Just use the demo as a way to get used to the pro physics in GT5.

Ridger Racer?.... really?

My memories of the PS3 launch version at least, involved speeding along at 1000 mph and kicking the car into a 990 mph drift around an oval bend repeatedly...

Talk about extremes of genre...

what pro physics? it is laughable at best. True pro physics would have movement under braking, proper weight transfer and lift off oversteer. Like I said I am a big GT fan, just hope it is nothin like this demo.

It seems like the time trial was the arcade version like the old gt series.

The braking, I agree, although it has ABS on so it dumbs down the braking a lot, that has been an issue with GT games for a while now, probably one of my biggest gripes with the game (GT5Prologue in particular), but certainly can't be judged while ABS is on.

It does have weight proper weight transfer, so I don't know what your getting at there. If your talking about a lack of body roll, the 370z certainly has it, although it is quite a stiff car and watching real life videos off it on track it has very little body roll by comparison to other cars.

Lift off oversteer isn't a common occurance in FR type cars, its a trait of MR/RR cars.

But I suppose if it is so arcade, then you'll be right up the top of the leaderboards then...

Maybe I missed something here, but I don't remember at anytime this being referred to as a GT5 demo... I thought it was GT Academy 2010? :smileyfrustrated:hrugs:

Yeah when you install it, it garbles on about being what to expect from GT5,  well I remember (oh so long ago now lol)  when we all used to argue about the prologue being a "demo" LOL

Still not sure if this classes as a "demo" anyway - its hardly all that entertaining,  I had trouble keeping my eyes open after about 10 laps - kinda just droned on for me.... I know its not the idea to be all exciting and all that, after all it is just a comp.  I personally would prefer to have seen another HD teaser of the real deal......

And Saiun, a year or more on, and after much more playing and experience, I'll admit I was wrong. There is no doubt in my mind that the vast majority of racing sim players will benefit from a good wheel and pedal setup. I for one have. <puts on (pre-charred) flame suit>  :smileyhappy: :smileyhappy:
