I'm having trouble getting my wheel to work with my GT5. I followed the instruction on how to set it up and everything seems to be OK. When the PS3 is on and at home screen and the wheel has completed self-calibration it sits in what looks like "PC Mode" with with the white numbers illuminated (instead of the red PS3 mode) is that correct?
Then I can use the wheels multidirectional button and button #6 to load Gran Turismo 5 successfully and get to the menu of the game. I can also navigate the game menus but the wheel still stays in PC mode (white numbers only).
I can start a game but none of the controls work at all. The accelerate and brake bars on the screen do not show any input when pedals are pressed and the car does not react. The accelerator pedal causes the wheel to vibrate, but thats all it does. There is no steering or gearchange ability. Only the "Start" button works and it brings up the PS3s "continue/restart/exit" menu. (keeping in mind the wheel is still in "PC mode")
If at any point; at the PS3 home screen, at the GT5 main menu, or in the race, I do a manual switch to "PS3 Mode" the wheel, pedals, and all its buttons become absolutely useless. The backlight turns to the PS3 symbols, but none of the controls do anything, not even the menu can be brought up anymore. So i have to use a sixaxis to quit the game.
The dongle shows solid white and red LEDs and at any time if I press the gas pedal the steering wheel vibrates, but the car does not respond. I tried to look for help on the Fanatec support website and tried to do the reflashing of the dongles firmware by following the instructions. The PWUpdate utility shows "No Device Detected" in red, meaning my firmware is already up-to-date.
Does this mean that my wheel is incompatible with the GT5 Academy Trial?
Any help's appreciated, thank you.

lol I'm here but cbf reading that so try this 1st
1) to force PS3 mode hold the would-be "select" button and the round button on the base (... scratch that)
2) set your date back before last christmas (just set it back a year)
now I'll read the rest of your post and see if it could be anything
ok it seems you'll have to change the date, it a glitch that popped up last christmas and they've been too busy making the new models to patch this one issue (and make the base button a PS button)

I have exactly the same issue. GT5 does not work, DIRT2 does not work, NFS Shift does not work. The only game that works is DIRT 1. On their web site fanatec claims that their wheel works with any game. what a BS. I am gonna send it back.

have you set your date back??? 'cause GT5P & the GT5 Time trial are working fine for me, and the NFS SHift demo worked fine
