GT5 DLC

72 Replies 16,899 Views Created 07-08-2010

From switching over from Forza 3, the idea of DLC is a good one.  Also DLC adds an oppertunity for GT5 to expand on its massive 1000 cars which I think would be brilliant.  Also they could add to the circiuts aswel.  Who else thinks that this would be a good idea?

I understand the idea of being ripped off by DLC but so far I think GT5 has done a great job with fixing bugs, adding events, etc. They are making a patch now for you to save progress in long endurance races. None of you realize games have tight deadlines and issues are always bound to come, and some stuff that isn't finished ends up being DLC (sometimes). As for me, I think more tracks and cars and events will come, and knowing the quality of PD it'll be good. I'd personally would like more premium American/Euro cars and more race cars, that to me is only downfall of this game. They was wanting all cars premium but decided to put the game out as it was taking so long. Plus also realize cars companies like Porche are left out strictly due to licensing (EA is to blame). So far, they seem to answer and give a little more to make everyone happy.

Dlc is just a way to make more money. They dont release the whole game and kazunori feels the same way he knows. People that buy that dlc and stuff for games just show the dev that dumb people will buy it and thats how it got started.

I would love to see an old timer DLC for GT5. I feel there isnt enough old cars from the 60's era that are premium, I know its not everyones cup of tea but surely its nice to mix up the cars you drive instead of driving ferarri's, lambos and Race cars such as the Mazda 787b. I find it alot more fun to drive something different online that no one else would drive and i would espeically love for the Mini 1.3i to add more detail and to become a premium, I would pay just for the Mini but i know for a fact this will not be done, Just a massive i hope/Wish :(.

I would love to see a "community" DLC.

Where members of whatever the official forum is can vote for their most wanted cars and the top so many get put into DLC.

We get the cars we want (some of us anyway) and PD are pretty much certain to make sales on cars that are actually wanted.

I understand Forza does something similar.

I am getting Forza 3 very soon so I will be interested to see how that works.

I cant see how Kaz can be sceptical about introducing DLC packs when he has a whole massive community, majority of which would be happy to pay for new content. This is the one game where I wouldn't think twice about buying dlc for, soon as its in the store...

I've seen 1 argument where dlc would apparently make GT6 'pointless' but by the time they get around to making it there will be countless new cars produced by the world's numerous manufacturers. This game is like a motoring encyclopedia there will never ever be a limit of content that can be made via both dlc or new title release.

I do hope he changes his mind eentually ;)

DLC is a funny beast. I have recently connected to the internet at home for the first time, have enjoyed the up to date updates for games and the system.
Anywho, with GT5 I think that there are enough cars in the game already, but of course there are quite a few decent cars missing. Also it's quite shocking that the Veyron doesn't have a cockpit view! It's my fastestcar at the moment.
If PD want to add more premium cars via free patches then yes I'm up for that, but I do think that more tracks should be added. There are again quite a few missing here. Here's some tracks I'd like.
Silverstone,

Mugello,

The Epic Mountain Course TT (Isle of Man)
F1 tracks (Yeongham, Abu Dhabi, Spa Franc..., etc)
Kyalami,

Brands Hatch,

But what I really want, wether it be a stand alone game, free patch, free DLC, cheap PSN download, would be Tourist Trophy 2...
I'd really love to have a serious bike racer on the PS3 (SBK is good MotoGP is not) and from the first TT PD did a really decent job really. Only this time to have it as a fully fledged GT for bikes, with used bike dealers, etc.

I know that this will get shot down as people want GT5 to remain car exclusive, but I don't, I'd like some car vs bike races....

DLC for Gran Turismo 5 would be great, 25 new tracks, ability to race virtual racers against each other in b spec mode and an iphone viewer for the racing or rear view...

Looking forward to Gran Turismo 6, Last Guardian, Mass effect 3 , GTA 5 and any new microsoft flight simulator remakes with scaling up and addition of multiplayer online  flying racing or other missions.

New cars in Premium version, not many recent new cars are in the game. New tracks, or even some old ones from previous Gran Turismo games, for example Seattle Circuit. I'd also like some long, scenic roads like Nürburgring Norschleife but without railings on the side of the road as it blocks the scenery and make it look it's race track instead of regular road.
Perhaps Polyphony Digital should develope another game, real traffic simulator where you could drive cars in environments modeled in Gran Turismo quality & physics but there would be no racing, instead you should obey traffic rules and avoid collisions, etc., basically Test Drive Unlimited 2 but with Gran Turismo quality :)

I think that now we're in a generation of patches and DLC, a new Gran Turismo would be pointless. It would probably use the GT5 engine, just with more cars, tracks and events. And that could all be added through patches/DLC. I'd happily pay to tear around El Capitan (I believe that's the name of it...I know it was shamelessly taken out of GT5...) in an Aerial Atom or Koenigsegg or a real Porche. Not to mention they could easily add new cars from manufacturers already in the game, like the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport. I'm sure PD could do a graphical update too; I'm not sure whether it's a long-running in-joke of the developers, but trees and people are as three-dimensional as cars!

And while some people are on the subject of it: I really don't like the idea of PD giving away the Stealth Models as DLC...perhaps the Chromelines though. :)

I agree, I don't think the stealth cars should be available as DLC either, if you wanted those cars and all the other goodies they were (and probably still are, I got mine for £80) available to buy at the time...

I read that it takes months to model a car for the game, I therefore doubt we will get DLC with car updates which is a real shame, NFS and other series seem to be able to turn them out and wished that PD could do the same....

Really, months to model ONE car? Say it took one month for each car, it's 1031 months in total, which is nearly 86 years...

They model about 20 cars at a time and its only months for premium cars.

Standard cars take about a week to port over + polish off.

If theres going to be any DLC soon then it will be announced at E3.

The term is "man hours", the number of hours it would take for one man to finish building a car.

In Prologue, most cars had over 200,000 polygons.

Some of GT5's cars have over 400,000 polygons.

PD said it took about 6 months per car and over a year each for most tracks.

Thanks for the clarification I knew I had read about the man hours when GT5 was about to launch, I never intended to give the impression that one programmer sat there making a Ferrari Enzo for 6m :)

A DLC would be VERY VERY appreciated. I don't mind if it were composed only by standard cars, it doesn't matter to me, but id love to get some vintage cars, mobster-like cars, would be very very awesome and im ashamed that Gran Turismo doesn't have these, since they were a good mark on the automobile history.
Also, bring back: El Capitan, Test Course, Red Rock Valley and Special Stage Route 11, would be epic. That's my idea of a good and entertaining DLC.

There are recent rumours in the media about pending GT5 DLC and where there is smoke, usually there is some fire backing it up.

These rumours are based on comments by a couple of SONY people, not necessarily PD, and there is no timeframe given, of course. (My guess would be we get some before the end of the year, however my guessing isn't all the great.)

PD will set a release date for the DLC as the end of this year and then delay it about 50 times. ;)
