GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

[ Edited ]

Seems there's a lack of online leaderboards / time trails times. Its a pity as I enjoy the competitive nature of time trail leaderboards. It would have been good to have the ability to compared car / track times with friends(lounge). Also disappointed that you cannot setup championships with friends or in online multiplayer.

Still love the driving exprience though especially with a wheel.

Re: GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

Yes where are the leaderboards so i can compete against friends ghost cars, jeez a racing game without leaderboards is shocking, I love the game but the lack of such a main feature is a serious issue, I mean its like playing a football game without any score showing on the screen or a league whats  the point in time trials if i cant compete against others also drift mode with no competition mmmmm this game needs sorting asap.

RANT over...............

Re: GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

A leaderboard for every single combo of car and track on GT5?!

Yeah, that would be a great thing, but just think about it for a minute. 1000+ cars times 70+ circuits. :smileywink: Thats a hell of a lot of data and server space.

Couple of points regarding the leaderboards
Forza can do it. Regarding the variations it could have been done by standard car and tuned car. Drift seems pointless without a leaderboard. Really thing the multiplayer could have had leaderboards especially in the coffee lounge setup. A very big oversight in my opinion.

Re: GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

It ain't really a lot of server space.

Each username = variable size string.

Each time as a double so 8 bytes each there.

Multiply the above by tracks then by amount of users on each leaderboard ( say 100 ).

Then you could multiply that by the number of cars if you wanted to have a leaderboard for each individual car.

Still, not really a lot of server space. If we say for the sake of argument there are 70 tracks and we average out a username at 20 characters plus an extra character to denote the end of a username we would need 203,000 bytes to store a leaderboard of the top 100. So that would be a little over 198 Kilobytes, which is only about 4 times the size of my CV in Word.

I hadn't looked for leaderboards till I read this thread but yes, they should be there. Maybe they'll come in an update later.

Re: GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

if the amount of cars and tracks was an issue why didnt they just have leaderboards with say 10 tracks and 50 cars. Surely that would have been better then to omit them totally

Re: GT5 Love it but wheres the leaderboards

If you're into records and competition you might like my post here....

I got tired of not having an online league that I liked so I created one. I've created a website and will host all events (unless I'm takin by storm) hopefully starting at the beginning of the year. I put alot of work into the site with several race divisions, stats, records, comments, forums, and a youtube channel, with more planned. It's open to anyone willing to race seriously, I don't need bumper cars out there. So please, if you're interested in an organized online racing series I urge you to check out what I'm doing. Follow the link at the bottom of this post to the website and "join" by clicking follow in the righthand column where it says drivers. If you do join, please send me a psn friend request with 'join league' in the subject line tooTool around the site. You can vote on the polls I have up regarding the regulations of our league and get in the forums to check out what is going on there. If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact me by replying here, private message, or several ways on my website.

Thanks
