Hi there, sorry for may be a silly question but I am a really new user. I have a new PS3 and GT5 installed. I connect it to Samsung HD TV UE40D6530 via Sony HDMI cable 1.4. My game shows in a 4:3 aspect ratio in HD. My question is, can I change the game display to use full screen in a 16:9 aspect ratio? I tried the game Options - Hardware - Display but did not find a solution there. I can play other games in 16:9 ratio. Maybe the game is not playable in other ratios at all? But I saw pictures and videos from GT5 in 16:9 ratio. Thanks in advance!

yes it's possible. the question is how you managed to get 4:3 ratio . have to check it later how to force it to use 4:3 ratio. it was always 16:9 for me (out of the box).

Could be your tv that is set to 4:3. the options to change res are in the ps3 display options on the XMB, and there are resolution options in the display options in the options menu in GT5.

Thanks Iiah and kennyuk77. Good to know it is not the game causing the low ratio. I will try to play with the TV setting tonight. As far as I recall the GT5 setting did not allow me any change in the aspect ratio and the PS3 setting as well. BTW ... maybe a relevant question here: I have the main PS3 screen also in the 4:3 ratio. I tried to enlarge it but could not. Does the PS3 main screen (settings etc.) come show in 16:9? If yes, my problem could be the TV. What is confusing me is that I can play some games on PS3 in full 16:9. I will confirm if I magaed

You can use 16:9! Change the display settings in the XMB, there's an auto setting to calibrate the settings appropriate for your television.

Solved in TV settings. The source of confusion is that althought my default aspect ratio setting on TV is "automatic" and adjusts the display ratio automatically to the source, this setting is not available when I choose PS3 as the source for TV. When I connected my PS3 via HDMI the "automatic" setting changed to 4:3. So simple. Thanks for your responces.
