Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

The combination of PD, GT and the PS3 are all capable of creating a good penalty system for us, so it doesn't matter what happens elsewhere.

Since PD stopped developing Prologue, we just have to wait and see what we get. If it is bad, then we can complain loudly enough to get improvements. It worked for Prologue, so can certainly work for the full version. They listened to us and made important changes.

Just because Prologue may not do something right does not mean GT5 will be the same way.

Where's the optimism around here? Playing GT4 recently, after playing Prologue, I am feeling and seeing things in a fresh way and, if PD can do all of what they did in GT4 within the capabilities for a PS2, they can blow our socks off easily with the PS3 versions!

Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

+1 there MastrGT.

(By the way, do you have any other nicks that you go by? I feel sort of odd and belittled having to refer to you as "Master" all the time, LOL!)

:smileywink:

I continue to have excellent races online this week at the 700PP Suzuka Pro event. Most of my races are against Japanese players who are brilliantly fast and ultra-clean, but I do end up with the odd blocker and rammer here and there. My biggest gripe is that the tracks and cars are so tedious after 12 months of the same stuff. I've done over 250 laps this weekend on Suzuka and I dunno if I can bring myself to race anymore, LOL, even though it's great fun.

GT5P is sooooo watered down it's not funny. GT4 is a seriously deep game, much deeper than Prologue and if all GT5 was going to be was GT4 with hi-res graphics, online and the current physics system, I'd be happy.

But it's going to be so much more than what we're expecting, the thought of having a time trial leaderboard for 800 cars and 100 circuits is mouth-watering enough, but what's more, we're all going to have private rooms and we'll be able to run our own championships...

Thanks, and please don't take it the wrong way! As I explained in your "name" thread here, master was used to denote my serior age (55 in October), not skill, but if my ID adds a bit of doubt to someone on the track, I'll take it. I have seen drivers give me a wide berth when they pass me, too. :smileyvery-happy: I have no other ID beyond what my parents decided to name me. In fact, I prefer to always use MasterGT while on-line (if doing so is relevant) and even if I know someone's real name I'll use whatever ID someone else decided to use. It keeps things simple and easy to remember.

In truth, it doesn't really matter what we call ourselves (so long as we don't break any rules).
Our reputation is built on the track and on these forums, and that should be enough.

Tell me about it. Ramming Penalties when you're the car in front and you're not braking. It makes for a new set of tactics where you ignore the racing line just to stop people taking crazy lines to use your car as a prop.

They could sort this out for the final release because it really spoils the on-line experience and would be so easily fixed.

Sorry for going off topic, but i wonder what will be the OMG peice of content that we will turn around and say never thought we would get this!! I reckon we are missing something, cant put my finger on it, guess we will know when we know.

With that many combos even i should be good for a few high TT positions!!

Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

I just it would be nice if PD said something like 'we have a new penalty system' personally I think they can get it so everyone is happy but so long as the rammers and short cutters get miffed thats fine by me.

I asked how Forza do it not meaning any comparison with GT5 I just was interested in how they do it.

I think now at the moment GT4 has more to offer me than GT5p. Don't get me wrong GT5p has been great but with a limited amount of tracks it wears out, for me anyway. If only they gave us 3 tracks instead of those 3 cars last time it would have made all the difference the ability to do our own events would have been great and not that difficult to do I'm sure.

No doubt these things will be in GT5, I hope GT5 will have the same playability as GT4. Wait and see I spose.

Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

The reason why Polyphony didn't give us a load of things with GT5p is because they wanted to keep everything they could back for the full game. I think that if Kaz had his own way with this, we wouldn't even get a Prologue. But this obviously would be a mistake, and I'm glad Sony and his advisers think otherwise and made him see that.

GT4 will give you far more than GT5p. But mate, trust me when the full fat GT5 comes along, you'll have all the gameplay you'll ever want from a racing game. Every single Gran Turismo has never ever disappointed me. The switch from GT2 to GT3 was even good. Going from having 600 cars and nearly 80+ tracks, down to whatever GT3 had took some getting used to, but it was a great experience nether the less. GT on the PS2! It was great. So I really cannot thathom what GT5 on the PS3 will be like. I really hope it has as much as we're hoping for. But I am expecting some of the things that we want, not to be there. Because nothing is perfect is it?

Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

the penalty system works in a way , it makes you race clean because you never know who's going to get the penalty . have PD done this on purpose to train us to race fairer ? and to see how we cope wit it. ive no doubt it will be fixed or changed in the full game.

The penalty system now is just immature, that's all, and the one in Prologue will not be updated (although it has already been improved).

If the one out of the box in GT5 is not "right", then we can complain and try to get PD to fix it, but at this time, let's give them the benefit of the doubt that they do it OK first.

Re: GT5P online is disgustingly bad!

One of the most important things they must do before applying any penalty system is to fix the ***** collision model. There is no weighting and no predictability behind it. Hitting another car from front, side, back or the roof doesn't feel at all right in GT and it never really has. Other games have gotten in down fairly good so that a collision "feels" like a collision.

Until PD get this right, there can be no proper penalties applied.
