Seriously, it is unplayable, why is car contact allowed?
I was playing in one of the earlier noob races just too get used to it, I am in first place and on the second lap of the high speed ring. I slow down to take the corner so I don;t hit the barrier when suddenly someone smashes into my rear end and doesn't get a penalty.
My car spins wildly out of control as people fly past, I hit the barriers and get a 7 second time penalty. I finish the race in twelth.
How could PD make such a terrible online experience, this is Gran Turismo, not Burnout.

It's hardly PD's fault that there are people that can't drive mate. Most of the time, GT online is good. There are the odd races where it is like that, that's a given. But it's not like that all the time mate, it really isn't.
Well it has happened to me in almost every single race so far.
I'm hardly getting a great impression from it, are there any races which are crashing free?

Yeah keep going with it and take part in some of the Expert Events. All "expert" means is that the physics are set to professional. With some practice and a decent car set-up underneath you, you'll be fine. You can find decent set-ups all over the place. On here, on GTPlanet amoungst other various sites.
I have been playing on pro physics since I got it so I'm pretty comfortable with it, and I'm winning races in S-Class, so I should be Ok in some expert races.

+1 there MastrGT, I find that half the experience of racing online is making sure you're not putting yourself into a position where inexperienced drivers can use you as a bumper car to get around a corner. A mate of mine is a great offline driver, he's good at time trials and against the AI, but he simply can't drive "defensively" and is always leaving himself open to being rammed, something that has ruined his online GT experience.
I really can't disagree with the nature of this thread, because on occaision (especially in my first week) I found it disgustingly bad too. The Beginner races were horrific (I spent one day there). I skipped intermediate altogether and began racing in Expert. Not a great better at first, but there were some very high quality drivers there who were a joy to race against and this is where I've made all of my online Friends.
I don't have one person on my Friends list who is not an Expert GT online driver.
